But that he refused because he had already given his word to UT. That surprises me if true.

Don't know if I believe that, but, if true, it should stop some of the Sexton ranting around here.

Hymens just reported that CLK and CMK flew to meet with Yaw Yaw on 12/31 and offer him the job, which he accepted.

After Les Miles learned of this after their Chicken Bowl win, he drove to Yaw Yaw's house and offered him $900k. Yaw Yaw said thanks but no thanks, he already commited to coming to UT.

BTW, we are paying him $650k, so he turned down a 1/4 million dollar raise and the ability to stay in LA.

Consider the source, Hymens, but if true, O is a man of his word.

No way. Lowe said 600k. If it would have been 900k he would be wearing the Purple and Gold. Hyams is losing more and more credibility with me. IMO Until it comes out that is true I don't believe him for a second

JH is an IDIOT. I bet that Western Kentucky or UNC-A could use a sports beat reporter. I can give them a good recommendation.

les gets around 3.8, chavis gets 500,000, and O gets offered 900 and everyone is blown away by how much tennessee is forking out.

Think about it. LSU's game wasnt over till midnight 12/31. Ed O arrived in Knoxville thursday 1/1. He alluded in todays PC that today was a much better day than yesterday. Is it possible that Miles showed up early on 1/1 and made the final pitch before Ed left, and that made it a tough day?? who knows. I wonder who JH's source is.
I also find it hard to believe that Ed O would be paid almost twice as much as the DC at LSU.

The "first day" he was in Knoxville was in reference to the butt-whuppin that UT put on Ole Miss...

I have some friends who are pretty in tune with things that go on with LSU and they said LSU did offer quite a bit more money than UT but they didnt know the numbers, they wanted to think it was around 800k though so as much as i dislike Hyams I dont think hes far off on this.

If it is true...which I still don't buy it...

That's like throwing salt in the wound for Tiger fans. The hometown boy turns down more money to go to UT...ouch

I heard Obama offered Coach O $9 Trillion as part of his economic stimulus package because his last name begins with the letter "O"

If they offered him 800k,(which is 150k more than we are paying)I have a LOT of respect for O in turning them down because he had givin' Lane his word. You could tell by listening to O, is wasn't "cut and dry". That makes this story that much more remarkable. "Tiger drop this" LSU, HE"S WORTH 800k!

We got him for 650.
