Hyams Saying Football To Get Slammed

Has Larry clarified anything further than there may be a document, it may be blacked out in 9d. and it may have already been known?

Either way today's events can't be viewed as positive for the hearing. Best case now is = to our old worst case. The only thing going for us is OSU and the recent USC. We should get less than uSC but that depends on the hostesses and how much evidence they have that UTAD knew at all.

That would suck, probably happens though, someone knew those girls took that trip. The school ridding itself of everyone even associated with that time frame is probably a bad sign. The last decade sucked and this one isn't starting off too well either. Damn might need to take up golf or something to keep my sanity.

It's not a mood in Indy. It's the new boss, who isn't going to play around about it.

I wonder what the heck the new boss intends to do with a school who had former players acting as agents and brokering P4P deals with the parent of a recruit? (MSU/Newton)

Or, what he intends to do about 4 former players that publically admitted to being paid while they played football for a school? And being urged by the coaches to change their major in order to make more time for football? (Auburn/HBO)

In these obvious incidents ^^^^ the NCAA looks like they have not teeth to bite any program.

This whole UT crap is a bunch of BS, IMO. Pearl lost his job over a freaking BBQ? That's bull----.

Sorry to interrupt your thread, I just had to vent.

I'll admit I'm usually the type to overreact at first. I usually the guy who hears some reporter say something about Tennessee's punishments and then worries about how bad it will be.

But seeing Hyams saying this makes me feel a lot better.

I think I've said this multiple times already, but Jimmy Hyams simply shouldn't be quoted here. Ever.

Hyams believes everything that he hears. If you saw him walking down the street and told him that Godzilla was seen less than a mile away he would run the other way, warning everyone he saw.

The Hyams is currently on Nashville radio gleefully predicting scholarship reductions and 3 to 4 years of probation for the football program due to David Reaves' testimony to the NCAA that the former staff financed and orchestrated hostessgate... we may be lucky to avoid post-season ban per Hyams as well...

We may be lucky qualify for the post season.

All this cheating Kiffin did, what advantage did the football program get? UT went 7-6 and 6-7. They are going to take away our losses in the bowl games?

Wow what damage kiffin did in just one year here andsomee here still glorify him

Here is what has me worried.

The NCAA can rule how they see fit. Each case is different. They may be so mad at AUBURN AND OHIO STATE that they take it out on us.

We had coaches that we assumed lied to the ncaa, we do not know what all hamilton has not told us, the blacked out parts(personal information) is this former or current players or a coach ?

Yes we have got rid of pearl, kiffin and hamilton, but we are still paying them and will continue to pay them.

This really has me worried, if we did know they were breaking rules, what did we do to kiffin from a university standpoint. I know we cut pearls salary and reduced recuiting visits, but it was slive that suspended him half of the sec season. We had hamilton come out and suppport him in the media after this story broke and after his suspension saying that he would stick with him. Yes I know he later changed views on this but it is not good the way it happen(him saying he is our man and will be our coach) in the media.

Kiffin left us and what did we do to him and his staff as far as punishment before they left.

I am worried they try to make an example out of us, that they try to group the football, basketball, and university together and come down hard on us.

It it not comforting when you look at that whole LOI, they ask about future tv games and about won lost records near the end of the LOI, there were others things they were asking that we provide also that also troubled me.

I think that we get off easy with the football program if they lay it all on kiffin, but think we will take a hit in the basketball program.

If they group them all together I think it will be ugly for us.

I just wish it was over and we knew they ruled so we can start over and know what we are facing, this dark cloud needs to move on over. There has to be some sunshine breaking somewhere and the sooner we see it the better off we will be.

I hope we get off with a slap on the wrist in football and hope that the basketball team is not hit as hard as some of us think.

We have to live with what they rule and move on, the era that was behind us is in the past and look forward to the future and try to see the good in it.

We have 2 coaches that I think will try to do the right things concerning the ncaa and hope that we hire a ad that keeps a tight rope on his coaches.

This mess has been over our heads a long time, I will be glad when it is all over. I know that might be another 6 or 8 weeks but to finally put it behind us no matter what the outcome will be a relief as a fan. Hopefully we come out of this smelling like a rose. It would be nice if kiffin, pearl and hamilton take the hits and they take it easy on us in both basketball and football.

When it is over, all I know for sure is ........

GO BIG ORANGE !!!!!!!THERE IS NO WAY THEY GIVE US THE DEATH PENATY.THE NCAA WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.

GO BIG ORANGE, FOOTBALL IS COMING SOON.

Nothing spells credible like defending Kiffin and company well beyond the point of stalker level obsession.

And how was my post in defense of Kiffin?

I'll hang up and listen.

There's a big difference on what I believe and what has been established on record.

I have no doubt Ed O is as shady as they come and Kiffin probably isn't far behind. However, it doesn't matter what people "believe", he has never been named in an NCAA official report thus it would be very hard to justify that UT hired a known transgressor and punish them for that.

It's really not that hard to understand.

You are correct. It is not that difficult. Tennessee has hired two coaches who have lied to the NCAA and committed major violations. The University did nothing to either one until they were forced to act. The cumulative impact is that it appears no one is monitoring or disciplining the coaches. True or not, that is the impression. To the NCAA, that looks like a lack of institutional control. I, for one, am very concerned.

Why would football get slammed?

Kiffin wasn't a "known cheater" in the eyes of the AA when we hired him.

Everything that was named in the report football wise was linked back to Kiffin/Reaves.

Do I expect something? Yes. Do I expect the book to be thrown at us? Not at all.
+1. I don't know what all the foreboding is all about. Dealing with agents and/or lying to the NCAA is where the real crap hits the fan, usually. This seems little more than a secondary violation, and I don't see how the school could forsee and prevent this.

The BB program/ Pearl's conduct is the focus of the NCAA's attention. On another note, I think the NCAA had better tread VERY carefully here, because they are close to being a non-entity when the issue of having "Super Conferences" comes back into orbit following next year's football season.
