Regardless of whether or not Worley was a threat as a runner, he still should've kept the ball more just to keep the defense honest. That is one thing I never understood with our coaching staff early last season. The reason our rushing yardge was so low was because teams knew that Worley wasn't keeping he ball and they were teeing off on Hurd and Lane.

They were trying to keep Worley from getting hurt. Really nothing they could've done last year would've kept Worley from getting hurt. They were trying to save Dobb's RS. If only NP didn't have a deer in the headlights look when he got on the field. I still find it funny that NP didn't think that the coaches gave him a chance. I'm thinking dude, do you even watch the tape?

Bama was #1 in the country allowing 63 yds per game coming into the game. 27-0 or not, with Dobbs under center, we put up 181 yds on the ground, 75 by Dobbs himself. Also consider that the 27-0 lead was in the 2nd quarter, not in the 4th when you would expect UT to get a lot of garbage yards vs Bama's second and third teams.

Agree with you that the OL didn't get better....it was the threat of a very good running qb who actually did what a qb is supposed to do in Butch's offense, which is actually keep and run with the ball when the defense dictates that you should keep and run with the ball.

+1. What I was going to say, but you said it much better. :)

Is it just me or has hyams been bringing the heat lately

I said the same thing in another thread and was accused of being Jimmy lol. You're exactly right though, he catches a fair amount of grief around here but lately he's breaking news before anyone else.

Good catch 4...everyone, let that sink in....we were averaging 95 rushing yards per game before Dobbs....averaged 208 yds per game once he started playing...and that included the #4 rushing defense in the country in Alabama.

Hate to say I told you so but I told you so from the very beginning! You can't have an immobile QB with a leaky line. Hobbs made everyone on the offense better and everyone on the opposing defense worse because they had to find Dobbs. I'm not worried about the running game. We won't be Arkansas but we will run it enough. Loved Marlin Lane, but can't wait to see AK! Can't wait to see the one two punch we have now.

That report is worrisome. A shake up would not hurt my feelings. Crowder, Kerbeyson the whiff kids, may have the slowest footwork I have ever seen.

I think they will be fine. Remember that they were also subject to an incredibly immobile qb and lack of creativity with the play calling. They are also a year older and stronger now.

Yeah I think this was s misprint

No misprint. It's logical. They would like to be able to put Mosley and Martin on the corners with Sutton at nickel. This would allow Sutton to follow the best receiver.

Make no mistake, when there are only two corners on the field, Sutton will be one of them.

Yep. I've been saying this since we signed Martin.
Sutton will need rest amd can get that now that Gaulden is coming along at NB. Foreman Martin Moseley all can spell him at CB.

If we play alot of nickel, who do you think will get the most reps, moseley or foreman? assuming martin locks down a spot in that set

Hobbs made everyone better? Thank you for that observation. I do try my best to cheer the team on. I'm glad someone is finally taking notice of my efforts.

Hell yeah Hobbs made everyone better. Great left-handed bat, good glove in right field. Game winning dinger, won the pennant and whatnot.

I was so sick of watching Worley run that "read-option" but RARELY keeping the ball. Many times he could have gained huge yardage had he kept it. But D's knew most likely he would not and did not even touch him.

Times are a'changing! Goooooo Vols!!!!

Yeah I think this was s misprint

not neccesarily. they were working out Cam in the nickle during the spring. and with nickle pretty much being our base defense, that means Martin is performing well enough that we can keep Gaulden at safety and move Cam over to the nickle.

best of both worlds IMO. Cam in the nickle would be amazing and make our defense even more formitable. It would also allow him to make more plays in the middle of the field.

Gaulden is a true nickel. He will play there. They will rotate him amd Cam there. Remember when we're not in Nickel Cam slides back to CB. Plus he's our PR. Gaulden will take sanps away from Cam, thankfully on defense.

He can knock the cover off the ball, that's for sure.
