Hyams on 104.5

Von - expect him reinstated maybe today by school. Was botched by University as compared to Williams.
He has been in town but will be slightly out of shape. Has enough time if reinstated this week to get full speed.

With addition of JJ and other recievers can be excellent if healthy.
Asked if JJ is Corey Fleming 2.0; Yes. Will make an almost seamless transition to WR. Fluid athlete with knowledge of offense.

PW - Should retake test early next week. Results almost immediate.

OL battles - Said expects Crowder to hold center spot. Not best athlete but knows the offense.

Kerbeson - likely holds LT

Drew battling for RT

Blair likely LT backup.

Thomas unlikely to be gaurd.

Talent - passes eye test

Kmac - unbelievable thighs looks like a man among boys. Expected to start and help.

Looks part more than any team going back to Kiffin's team.

Barnett motivated by Garrett talk.

Martin may start opposite of Moseley.

Will practice at 3:15. Saturday at 3:50. 2 a day on 8/11 & 13th.

That report is worrisome. A shake up would not hurt my feelings. Crowder, Kerbeyson may have the slowest footwork I have ever seen.

Had this to say specifically for these concerns.

Regarding oline woes - Last year when Dobbs was QB UT avgd 208 in rushing. Something to consider when worried about oline.

Good catch 4...everyone, let that sink in....we were averaging 95 rushing yards per game before Dobbs....averaged 208 yds per game once he started playing...and that included the #4 rushing defense in the country in Alabama.

Not just that. But our passing
game statistically was just as good with the increase in run production.

Agreed. But when I heard Hyams say that we went from 95 to 208 yds rushing per game, behind the same horrible, horrific, God-awful, feckless, incompetent, rotten, useless and pathetic offensive line...my jaw dropped.

And how many years has it been since UT has had an offensive line made up of scholarship players?

It's not like the o-line got better with Dobbs...more so than Dobbs actually keeping the ball and running when needed. That threat didn't exist with Worley.

That and the D's became considerably worse late in the year. You mentioned Bama but Bama was up 27-0...but getting 180 yards against them was impressive, but a little skewed with such a large lead.

UT's O should be fun to watch this season if the receivers do their part.

Regardless of whether or not Worley was a threat as a runner, he still should've kept the ball more just to keep the defense honest. That is one thing I never understood with our coaching staff early last season. The reason our rushing yardge was so low was because teams knew that Worley wasn't keeping the ball and they were teeing off on Hurd and Lane.

Completely agree. I was really hoping the coaching staff and Worley would have used the OU game as a blue-print on how to plan for the SEC schedule. They didn't.

Here's to moving on and always having a mobile QB in Jones' system from here on out. :good!:

Bama was #1 in the country allowing 63 yds per game coming into the game. 27-0 or not, with Dobbs under center, we put up 181 yds on the ground, 75 by Dobbs himself. Also consider that the 27-0 lead was in the 2nd quarter, not in the 4th when you would expect UT to get a lot of garbage yards vs Bama's second and third teams.

Agree with you that the OL didn't get better....it was the threat of a very good running qb who actually did what a qb is supposed to do in Butch's offense, which is actually keep and run with the ball when the defense dictates that you should keep and run with the ball.
