ok...so I am a stone cold Dawg fan, but gentlemen...even I would think that Tennessee is a premiere coaching gig in the SEC. UT has too many possibilities, and even a half decent coach that was hungry enough could turn the Vol ship around fairly quick.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that there needs to be a full accounting for all of the irresponsible "journalism" that has occurred over the last few days? We have been jerked around to the point that whatever happens will be anti-climatic. We need to question these people and hold them accountable for their actions. Who was their "source?' What was their agenda? I for one am very angry at the way this has been handled from the beginning. I can't fault anyone on here for becoming excited or getting caught up in the intrigue, or for feeling that Gruden will never happen. Up until a certain point, I was enjoying the ride. This will be my final post on this subject because I'm done with this whole mess. My time is too valuable to allow myself to sit here willingly and be jerked around some more. If we can't hit a home run, then we'll bygawd grind out some base hits. Take care guys, and Go Vols.
Per twitter
I said Gruden was a pipedream from the get-go. Now who do we realistically think will come here. Right now I'm leaning towards Fisher because of Stoops leaving for KY and Hart having ties to FSU.
Gruden said ""No" That was predictable!!
Now, Gundy at Oklahoma State will say "No" because he has a $3,000,000 buy out and T. Boone Pickens will pay enough to keep him.
Jimbo Fisher will say "No" because they are finally going to get their new facilities at FSU, as he was promised.
Al Golden will say "No" because he wants to keep recruiting the fertile recruiting grounds at Miami. Eventually Miami will be back to winning again.
Charlie Strong will say "No" and remain at Louisville in the ACC.
Gary Patterson has a $3,500,000 buy out and will say "No" Texas has too much fertile recruiting grounds for him to leave to come to Tennessee.
Our next coach will be Butch Jones from Cincinnati. He is winning with Brian Kelly's recruits.
So essentially, we fired Dooley and paid the $5,000,000 just to hire a coach from Cincinnati, who is slightly better than Dooley.
To us, U.T. is a wonderful job but to those outside of our circle, U.T. is not as attractive as 15 or 20 other Universities....
Couldn't agree more. I got home this morn @ 5am from work and was too excited to sleep so I stayed up hoping to see some sort of press conference or conformation from another major news source, but noooooooo just more disappointment. What a joke.
Going to bed now, God Bless to all!
Spot on. Even the staunchest Gruden supporters should realize this, but they are obviously blind. If they haven't got it worked out by now, time to move on. We have to select between Jon Gruden and Dave Hart. Honestly, Jon is asking for way too much power. And he isn't even a proven college head coach. Let's find choice # 2.
Is Fedora in love with his 4-2-5 defense or was that his DC's baby?
Most good football schools have strong head football coaches and puppets for AD's. As long as the compliance office does their job, I don't see an issue.
I am fine with Hart being kicked to the curb to make this happen. Nothing in his resume or time with the Vols to suggest he is that great anyway.
