What does that tell us?

Then there is Tennessee. The Vols had three players drafted, eight more signed as free agents and two more signed mini camp deals.

That’s 13 players in an NFL camp off one team.

And Tennessee went 4-8?

Has there been another team in SEC history go winless (0-8) in conference play, yet send 13 to pro camps?

Probably not.

Heck, there probably haven’t been many 1-7 or 2-6 SEC teams do that.

What does that say?

It says the Vols grossly underachieved. It says players weren’t developed. It says the team didn’t always play hard. It says coaches didn’t maximize their talent.

Of course, we knew that already, but this past weekend was proof.

We didn't have 4-8 talent. JG should have started all year and Butch made more bad coaching decisions on top of that.

And this a big part of why I say no way we lose 8 games this year.

Too bad Jimmy Wasn't asking these questions when Butch was on staff instead of pretending to be his PR manager.

Is it possible to give Jimmy a "thanks Jimmy" or is that like dividing by zero?

lol. It is a bit mind-blowing, though, that the worst team in the history of Tennessee football has 13 players in NFL camp. 13.

But no one thought they were that bad. That was a 7 or 8 win team with decent coaching. Now that's 13 fewer decent upperclassmen the new staff has to work with which hurts them

When you look at which rounds they were drafted it's pretty much in line with what we saw over the last few years. Butch could get talent on campus, but the staff he hired, was probably the worst in CFB at developing that talent.

Like Fulmer alluded to, it's a shame some of them decided not to stick around.

I guess that's more playing time for the younger guys, Pruitt's guys, which should help us in the long run, I suppose.

The last 2 seasons there has been bad team chemistry for the Vols. After the win at UGA in '16, UT is 8-12 since then.

After that UGA game a lot of stuff has surfaced. There was talent on each of the last 2 teams to finish better than what they did.

yeah, you have to be thinking the long game here.

they're trying to put band aids on this roster with the jucos and grad transfers. it won't be enough.

but, you look past that, and look at what they're doing in this class and next....

if things go their way, this thing is turned around in 3 years.

It was Butch's program and he deserves the lion's share of the blame but except for the 2nd half of the '16 Florida game, that defense wouldn't play for Bob Shoop. He was worse than Sunseri with much more talent. That's what really baffles me.

Can't stand Butch, but the reason we lost all the games last year was the WR corps and the young QB.

We easily win 4 of those 8 last year under normal QB/WR conditions.

But yeah, Butch's strength program was a joke, and he had no biz coaching n the SEC. Injuries aren't luck related, and we are about to see that with our team. It's conditioning.

Butch should never see a head coaching job at a major football power again. Iowa, Kansas, Pitt, would be the highest names he could get, and he'd be lucky at that.

several of them were often injured and Kelly was suspended a game to go along with the bad coaching
