If you read the post I wasn't blaming Butch for those players leaving I was pointing out how we as fans lost players we were really high on. I wasn't placing blame on anyone. Just pointing out we celebrate when we get them and then act like no big deal when they leave. I never like to see any player leave. Yes Butch gets tons of credit for Dobbs and even Sheriron last year. For the record I think Butch has done a great job. Maybe I don't express that enough.
Butch Jones coaches players hard. He is demeaning, degrading and insulting. Players who are getting playing time can put up with it because he's not as hard on them and because they get the glory. Players who are providing depth don't get the rewards, so for them, it's not worth being miserable for four or five years. The end result will be lack of depth.
Butch makes mistakes...in coaching AND recruiting. Has and will. All talent managers have and will. If you're at a certain level, you can bridge those mistakes because you recruit at a higher proportion of hits to the misses. I believe Butch is at that level. If I'm wrong then you're right and NEITHER of us are happy.

I don't have to be wrong for you to be right. I honestly don't see a problem with 90% of the attrition. This started because I commented that Branisel leaving 3 weeks before the season started seems like an unusual time to leave and I do think it leaves us very thin at this position. The conversation spiraled from there which is usually the case but we acted like adults for the most part. Luckily the season starts soon......
According to LWS, he's looking to play at FCS school. Another case of a kid realizing he's not able to play at a D-1 level. Most of the kids that transferred went to schools with lesser talent and tradition than UT. Henderson's name keeps coming up, but he was a casualty of the NCAA clearinghouse. Paulk punched his girlfriend. Sawyers was a pothead that didn't go to class, similar story with Oliver. Bruce didn't apparently fit in well with the upperclassmen. Most of Butch's attrition occurred from Dooley recruited players or his first year when he had a short time to put a quick class together. Each year that passes we will have more talented, mentally stronger players that will ensure a winning program. I for one am not worried about soft or lesser talented players choosing to go elsewhere.

He sat out last year and would be eligible to play this year at D-1.
Is that really how it works? What if it was a redshirt freshman who sat the first year here at UT. Decides to transfer to another D-1 the next year. Does he not have to sit a year still? I thought you pretty much had to sit no matter what unless you had graduated the year before. TIA
