Anybody else think this guy plays?

Tommy Armstrong sez he's probably about 75-80%. Taking it day-by-day to see if maybe can be 'an emergency guy' on Friday

Should only be good for about 700 yards then!:blink:

From what I read the other day we had some guys finishing the season no where near 70%.

He should be in AA mode given that.

I want to be optimistic but watching NC State just throttle Vandy's offense after they looked like a Spurrier Coached Gator team against us makes be more nega. Nebraska will put up 600-700 yards of total O on this Vols defense and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The Vols can still win if Dobbs goes off as he can and the D forces 4-6 turnovers or somehow comes up with some stops in the Red Zone as they did against Missouri and Kentucky; but realistically the Vols lose this game simply because they not only can't stop anyone they can't even slow them down. Huskers 49 Vols 38.

Hyperbole much? With the absolute certainty of the 1st bolded sentence, how is the 2nd bolded sentence possible?

Armstrong will play and likely look better than he has all season. Nebraska will run wild on us like just about everyone else has. But the Vols will still win.

Ditto for Cam Sutton, one of our fine senior leaders.

A hobbled Armstrong is probably worse than a 100% QB off the bench. He was a major threat with his legs, so if he is hurt, he could be a sitting duck for DE's. And since he hasn't been healthy/regularly practicing, he could be rusty and sloppy.

Gerry was the QB of their defense, so that could be a big plus for us with him being out.

Hate to see Chance and Boulware out, but at least we get Wiesman and Jack Jones back. Need to run it down their throats up the middle. We have enough talent at WR, QB and RB to put plenty of points on the board behind a revived OL. If we hold our own on turnovers and cut down on penalties, I think we can run away with this game.

On D, I'm really hoping, a 100% Kirkland will do the trick. McDowell and El Berry are serviceable, as well as Jumper backing up Kirkland. Secondary needs to step it up, especially with #1 Neb WR out. I hope we are over the hammy issues too.

DT, Kongbo needs to progress more. CBJ should sell him on this being his last game at DT. Vickers, Bain, Mosely need to elevate their game...a lot! I really want to see Big Charles get his shot out there. If anything, he should help make the holes smaller for Kirkland to plug!

Take care of business Vols!

Why does anyone care about this game?

Its a disappointing bowl game for sure. But there are still several positives.

- vols are playing a historically good program
- last chance to see the vols play until august
- two all time great vols on the team at the same time (Dobbs and Barnett) and last chance to ever see them play wearing a power T.
- 3 straight bowl wins in a long time

Ive lost faith in the coaching staff man, but not in the talent and heart of the kids on the field and really they are what matters. Coaches come and go with paychecks.

Gets my vote for dumbest post of the yr.
Except for D4H

You do understand that if they win that you'll here 8 months of butch talking about how they dominated a 'good' big 10 opponent and the future is extremely bright. A win in this consolation prize of a game allows Butch to hide behind an absolute blunder of a season.

And a loss...who cares. 2016 was a failure after the vandy game. Losing to Nebraska in some lame December bowl won't make it any worse.

Maybe it will wake the rest of you up...maybe.
