The Today show was interviewing a Hurricane Ike victim, and Matt L. said "When we were driving by yesterday we saw you out there with a little shovel, cleaning up all this mess. Why" The guy answered "I believe you should take initiative, and go at it even if it's one shovel at a time."

Don't think you would see a lot of Katrina victims with this kind of attitude

Im kinda getting tired of the Katrina references. Trust me, there were more that took care of themselves that didnt. I think we need to move on.

Usually the case. It's the one's who didn't who make the news. Media doesn't want to film folks who are taking care of their themselves.

Thats my point exactly. The media only showed the few that sat around and screamed for help. Im just tired of everytime there is a hurricane now we go back to that. I hate the classification of "all Katrina victims". We are not all out of the projects waiting for FEMA checks.

I agree totally, LA. Unless you were down there, and saw things first hand, don't judge. I saw so many working hard to clean up. A lot more than being destructive. The heart of the whole area was amazing. Honestly? If it had been me, I am not sure I wouldn't have just turned my back and walked. It was horrible. Especially when people could do nothing for over a month, at least.

Meh, why pick up a shovel when you can have the government come do it for you, while Geraldo is there crying on TV, and Schoolbus Nagin gets you money?
