Hurd was not at 10/4 Practice....

He has a chance to be the all-time rushing leader......but, the coaches have been a disservice to him?????????????????????????

Hurd finished uga game with 10 carries for 42 yards at a 4.2 average and 3 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. Was a huge factor in UT winning.

Doesn't sound like a guy that doesn't wanna be here.....

I don't think anyone would disagree that a 3rd and 1 would be more effective with Hurd in the I.

Hurd earned his yards at UT.

Sure seems like he wants attention for himself. What kind of person would upstage a family member before making the (then) biggest announcement of his life?

Not that it would matter, or it might, who knows, but the same kind of person that would tell Jalen everything said here. Some people need to be the center of attention and thrive on drama.

Good to see you Bill:hi:

Wasn't "upstaged". This is just a message board.

Because Jalen's role is to smash into the brick wall 25 times. By the 4th quarter, the brick wall gives up.

On the surface, I'd generally agree that that's the philosophy with Jalen and our running game. However, the numbers don't support it. There's virtually no difference in Jalen's yards per carry in the first and second halves of games this year. In fact, I think he's averaging slightly more yards per carry in the first half to date. Either way, defenses certainly aren't surrendering anything and our running game with Jalen isn't wearing on anybody or hashing anybody late in games as compared to early in games.

If Jalen thought about leaving it speaks more to his character that he is still here, playing hard, and helping us win football games. He's finishing what he started and there's something to be said for that. He's a tough kid, and I hope he has a long and fruitful career.

This is the point I was making in my earlier post about Vol74 doing Jalen an injustice. Family is supposed to protect you and have your best interest at heart. If his info is accurate then why put the kids personal thoughts and feelings out publicly if it could be viewed negatively. Jalen Hurd has become a hero to the majority of the fan base and now Vol74 (who is supposed to be family) has cast a negative light on him. The sh!t he has said is out there for public debate now and can't be taken back. Also it will be taken as fact with so many backing that what Vol74 says is the gospel. Hurd played with my son at Beech and I have always liked the kid. So yes, I think it sucks that family (if true) is responsible for causing Vol fans to doubt him. JMO but if you have positive inside info bring it. Keep the personal stuff to your damn self.

Come on the guy will be back alright. No man is an island and no man can do it alone. Hurd just needs to get his head back in the game. My guess is we see him for alabama. In the mean time it's Kelly time, and I can not wait. Move aside A&M you're in the way.

I thought everyone knew that Hurd thought of transferring, and if you believe Butch or any college coach when it comes to injuries your an idiot, they all lie.

This is especially true of RBs and QBs. If you aren't lying, you should be.

I can say one thing about Hurd, he has become a work horse type of RB, and I never envisioned that watching his HS film.

I guess the Florida defense just gassed out from partying all night the night before. Anyone who saw that game could see their DL wasn't near as quick off the ball in the second half and they had to resort to blitzes that Dobbs & Co exploited.

JH has to recognize that teams start their game plan stopping the run. That may change now that Dobbs & Co. are beginning to put up nice numbers throwing the ball but early on it has always been about stopping the Vols running game and make Dobbs beat you throwing.

So essentially if we don't list him as working with the offense (most would agree he fits significant) that means he wasn't there. But we can't report that he wasn't there.

when asked about Jalen Hurd specifically, he stated that he cannot talk about players who are not at practice..... so JALEN HURD WAS NOT AT PRACTICE. That is what I concluded from this statement.

JH is an imposing back. I love the bruiser mentality he brings to the field. But, based only on my observations, I don't think the team loses anything in the running game without him on the field. Yes, he can drag, push or steamroll guys for a lot of yardage, but when you watch AK or Kelly, they seem to be better equipped to slip through the seams than is JH.

One concern I do have is that JH is an absolute STUD pass blocker. That is a definitely a loss.

As for the other elements of discussion on this thread, I hope it is all resolved favorably for everyone. JH has worn the orange well. His play over his first two years was often a highlight in many otherwise difficult to enjoy games.

Jalen Hurd, if you read this thread (we know you won't because you have sense)......please shut your supposed uncle or aunty or whoever this person is up.....why are they airing your supposed dirty laundry on VolNation? Lol. That's just crazy. Oh and you may never want to talk to them ever again. They want your money you are about to come into.

Get away from bad and selfish people. Trust me family will screw you over worse than anyone (including Butch Jones) will......

The ignorance on this board is perplexing. If CBJ said Jalen had a concussion, it would be fine. If I say it, I'm airing dirty laundry, trying to get Jalen's "supposed" money and am being selfish? Haha.

Jalen was benched due to his unruly attitude, right? Then, Jalen was benched due to a lower-body injury, right? I can, with 100% certainty, tell you it's neither of the two.

I'm sorry that some of you cannot grasp the thought that you're being deceived, but well, you are --- and you think I'm the bad guy.

I have no idea, at this point, if Jalen will be playing in 3 days, but if he's not, I can't wait to hear what reason that's given.

And my thing is simple, why would CBJ say he would be good to go if he has missed 2 days of practice due to injury? I mean what does that accomplish?

I just think this is how Butch tells us (without actually saying it) NOYDB
