Hurd Rocking

Baring injury, Jalen will be a first rounder in '17. I sort of wish however that he and Kamara would split more reps as I think each brings their own dimension which would challenge opposing defenses all the more. Plus, Hurd could use a breather every now and then.

He reminds me of Rodney Hampton (NY Giants / UGA) from a few years ago. Hurd is always pushing the pile and falling forward.

Hurd is the kind of back NFL coaches salivate over, speed ,size, and versatility. Just a complete back that makes contributions that don't show on the stat sheet but helps his team win. A team player. So glad he's a Vol.

Kamara needs more touches. Hurd at times was overworked. He is a great player but an even better split next year would be nice. Maybe take a few carries away from dobbs. Also Kamara needs to be running the sweep type plays and Hurd needs to go north and south. He is hard to stop once he gets going.

considered a better overall back than Forrnette and Henry as a 3 down back

Anyone else feel like Hurd bursts through the line like the Kool-aide man when he breaks through. That first step past the line is like "ooh yeeaah!".

Some of his bull runs 'twixt the tackles remind me of watching Csonka back in the day. Similar size too -- I think Csonka was actually a shade shorter and lighter.

One consistent when Jalen Hurd carries the ball: He always falls forward no matter how many defenders are pushing him back. Way to go Jalen Hurd! It's your time to own the UT record books over the next two years.

It's deceiving how good of a runner he is. When I watch him, I'm like, " this guy ain't outrunning anybody." and "He's too tall to get behind his pads and plow anybody except a DB or Safety. Anybody else that get a hand on him brings him down." But he's always churning and determined. He goes for 1 yard, 2 yards, 12 yards, 1 yard, 3 rds, 8 yards. It's not usually pretty but man, inside the red zone he always seems to break out for a 15 yard TD run.
Hurd is why Debord needs to be allowed to integrate some better dedicated run plays. I've watched a few of the big runs from Henry and there are gaping holes. Hurd is often having to Dodge defenders in the backfield.

He is a great pass blocker and has also done an outstanding job as a lead blocker on some Dobbs and Kamara's runs. He picks up and stones the correct defender time and time again. He is truly a complete back.

He reminds me of Marcus Allen,Jalen Hurd runs a heck of a lot like him.

He's more like the mutant child of Larry Csonka and Marcus Allen. Allen was more of a "glider." He had deceptive speed and was shifty. He didn't beast people when they came to tackle him the way Hurd does.

So after the bowl game he could be around 900 yards away from being number 1 on our all time list. I'd take that everyday especially since he plays behind our o-line which don't get me wrong, has gotten a lot better. I think next year could be a great year for Hurd.

Next season our O line will be much better.

Hurd will be in total BEAST mode then and will amaze people.

The sad part will be if he leaves early to chase the NFL $$$$ after next season.

If he stays for his Senior season then the records he puts in the books may be there for a long time.

By the end of next season everyone will have heard about Hurd.

Jalen has always reminded me of Eric Dickerson. Marcus Allen is probably a better comparison, I just see Dickerson in him for some reason.

Heh, here's a nice clip of Dickerson highlights ... emcee'd by, of all people, Marcus Allen. :)

Either way, love the kid. Big heart, big motor, and just a dash of the little devil in him. He'll break the record next fall, as long as he stays healthy. VFL.

Yeppers.
