First off all, it's not Butch's responsibility to keep up with what fans on social media says about one of our players. Why in the hell should they even care in the first place? Also who said anything about Jalen Hurd's reputation getting run through the mud? You think he gives two sh*ts about what idiot fans are saying about him? We know we know, you're always right and the rest of us don't know anything but I'm positive Butch knows more about this situation than you do.

I have to ask. How was Butch supposed to remedy idiot fans? Legitimize their conspiracies in a PC or roll up his sleeves and slosh it out on social media?

Sorry but it is not the Coach's job to reply to folks spreading information on twitter and message boards.

Coach said Hurd had an injury from the very start. Just because that was not enough for some is not his problem.

Honestly the issue was with the media and others calling attention to the "few" fans that were saying things during the game. If they had ignored and not stirred the pot, this would have blown over. The drama was not caused by the Coach or Hurd.

And if you all look back at the last time drama happened with Hurd, it will be obvious who the pot stirrer really is.

I really hope that the coaching staff and players on Team 120 have not be distracted by all this. They have a game to play and win on Saturday.

If they establish line of scrimmage then yes, but I think we get beat tomorrow. They really needed a bye this week. They will have to play 4 qtrs. John jelly will be the key factor in this game. If they do win tomorrow the vols will go undefeated because I believe Kirkland and Hurd will return next week, and possibly just possibly maybin.

Zero facts? We got plenty of them now. And yeah, I guess I have been "ripping on people that GO AFTER JALEN.....". Perhaps you wanna read that last sentence again there that you wrote.

It made zero sense that Hurd would be benched after one play last week, only to return and score a touchdown and atone for his earlier mistake.....especially given what we know of Jalen after 3+ years in the program. Yet plenty on here kept coming up with BS conspiracy theories despite zero evidence.

As far as what facts I had.....rather than believe a bunch of yahoos on a message board, I chose to believe a very reliable poster who clearly is close to Jalen given his posting history, and an all-time great Vol running back who is close to both Jalen and the program in general.

And now, as it turns out, both Vol74 and Travis were right and not engaged in some kind of nebulous disinformation campaign which has done nothing but lead to rampant speculation and erroneous assumptions and damage to Hurd's reputation.

Keep your head in the sand and keep building straw men brother. Bottom line is, none of this crap happens this week if Jones is honest about Hurd's injury on Monday, period. Instead, we got misinformation that in no way remotely resembled the truth. You can keep thinking otherwise in an effort to oppose me in this thread, but that's clearly what happened.

My problem is not that he posts, my problem is he makes the problem worse. I said nothing bad about Jalen. I did say he was prolly benched for mouthing after the game but only bc that was what we were told during the game (he's on the bench with no injury and no medical staff, then later reported it was a coaches decision). Vol 74 could have kept his mouth shut but he makes it worse by telling folk how he runs into a brick wall and how he doesn't have to do that for a struggling program. Whether true or not, running down a program That Jalen chose to play for is not going to sit well with fans. It does mean for 74, that he will be attacked by some but fans may carryover their hate to Hurd. Not bc of anything Jalen did, but the guilty by association concept. That makes it worse, just let the stupids talk and move on.
Another example, 74 telling the fan base he's leaving last year. What good comes from stating that to the fans? None that I can tell since the fans will turn on any player who thinks they are better than a team they adore. Not saying Jalen shouldn't have considered other options but I'm sure he didn't want that out to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Even if true, keep it in the family and whatever you do don't go public with inner circle stuff.
Moving on to 74, I imagine a person whose sole claim to fame is a popular nephew. He should grasp all the attention he can bc soon Hurd will be gone and some of you who cares what he thinks will then not care. Time flies when you ride the coattails of a still popular VFL.
My point, if I am Jalen I wouldn't want someone telling my medical history. I'd be angry actually, but hey apparently I have to apologize to 74. Sorry man thanks for all the good you've done for your Nephew. Glad you're not my family.

Damage his reputation??? Jesus if we are counting commenting on message boards as damaging his reputation then you definitely had no problem damaging poor Josh Dobbs' reputation. About 5% actually attacked Jalen while the rest was trying to figure what's going on. Yet you act like every person was going after Jalen while you are blaming Butch for not addressing message board fodder. Give me a break.

I'm sorry. I guess it's completely impossible that Jalens injury got worse or didn't heal like he thought. But dear God, look what Hank from Vonore said about Jalen: Asked if maybe Jalen smarted off to a coach. Poor Hurd is gonna have his draft stock drop now because Butch didn't stop this rampant conspiracy by the majority of Vol fans to attack Jalen and ruin his reputation.
