Hurd not expected to play Saturday

So, maybe we should just all chill a bit. Get excited for a game on Saturday. Hope that Jalen has his health back asap (not for our sake but for his) and then on Sunday, regardless of the outcome we all just live our lives. just a thought.

Thats the way its supposed to work.

But it's not always caught. As massive of an issue as it has become in the NFL and the precautions they are now taking it still gets missed on occasion there. On top of that he could be having symptoms post game that were not present during the game. I say that from my own experience having one.

I feel pretty confident that he is having symptoms of a concussion. The how, when, and everything else is mudding up that at this point.

He also jumped in the pile with all the other players after the game and I don't believe he had a helmet on. While I understand the enthusiasm those situations are scary as well. I was watching and hoping that no one got hurt in all that.

It is correct and why people are rightly questioning the concussion. Players helmets are taken when a player is even suspected of concussion.

Maybe they should reconsider that. A player with a possible head injury sitting on a bench in bottle tossing range of opposing fans doesn't need another bop on the head.

Even Danielson said Hurd wasn't "show-boating" as he jogged into the end zone

Well, i thought danielson actually claimed jh was "prancing" / "pranced" into the end-zone / said something like "when will these college players/guys learn." But likely x/10 rb's/te's would have turned up field in the very same manner -- it was simply a solid, head's-up defensive play.

I think a hc who's still upset with a player would not immediately run over to the player moments afterwards to remove a chunk of turf from player's mask (rather, he would have stuffed it in further). Looked to me like coach jones was looking after his star player.

Jason McVeigh is the trainer for UT and is damned good at what he does. Some think he's a little to "safe" at times. McVeigh and Jones don't and take any chances. That's what's concerning and has people (those who know how things work and have seen this play out over Jones tenure) scratching their heads.
So, if people question the concussion they shouldn't be lambasted for doing so.

I hope this isn't true, but if it is... I've been waiting to see Kelly get the ball consistently. I love the way he runs. I'm not kissing ass here, but he reminds of Travis Stephens with his pad level and quick burst. Obviously losing Hurd will be bad, especially in pass blocking and short yardage plays, but I'm excited to see what Kelly can do.

To start with I am a huge jalen Hurd fan. He has made 3/4 quarters of his yards on his own. He is a heck of a player. With that being said, I have the theory that butch said something to him after fumble and it spilled over after game. Hurd prob told him what he thought of his system and the beating he takes. Butch has been totally dishonest w media regarding hurds " injury" just like he was with jrm.
While it was clear jrm was and is hurt seriously, I very seriously doubt Hurd is. He is doing what anyone here would do preserving his body for getting paid. I doubt we see him again in a feature back role unless it's sec title game or nati. I don't blame him one bit.

Maybe or OC/head coach will open the playbook and not rely on Hurd carrying the pile 3 yards.

Hurd caught the ball to his right, saw the defensive player on his right, and continued looking right all the way until the hit. Don't think he had a clue the guy who hit him was even in the neighborhood. Maybe he was guilty of losing situational awareness, but it's hard to see how there was really anything more than that.

Everyone has their own theory, so here's mine. Jalen got his bell rung, took a break. Deserved. Came back in, scored on the pass. Still not 100% but willing and eager to go. When Butch called for the formation on kickoff, Jalen answered the bell before anyone noticed. When the staff realized the extent of his injury, the "lower extremity tale was born. "Jalen, how's your legs"? "They are sore Coach". Problem solved.

Mr Hurd is a warrior. Hope he recovers quickly and completely, and reps us well in the NFL.

That's quite an imagination you have there.

Some people just have to find something to complain about. Are people really dumb enough to question Hurd's effort? He might break UT's all time rushing record in three years, behind an offensive line that has been consistently below average since he got here. I mean 55.9% of his yards this season has come after contact

Bottom line is if you think Hurd is in Butch's doghouse you are some special kind of stupid.

Vol74 thanks for the info man it pisses me off when people talk crap about players, especially one who OBVIOUSLY gives his all for Tennessee. Here's to Hurd rushing for 200 yards against Bammer :toast::toast:

Well it's not good as far as establishing a physical run game. Yeah we got some other backs, but no power back. The deck is stacked against us this week..

That wasn't a negative post to you. I was pointing out that it's very understandable that people might question the concussion story. This doesn't fit Jason's history.

Gotcha.

From everything I know he is very good at what he does.
And I could see where given that it could have been missed or even not there to see at the time. That's not an indictment on him in anyway.

He is. And Jones is too as far as coaches go. If there was any sign at all JH would've been without a helmet and serious medical examination. Jason often can't tell you the score because he's so focused on the players. Watching them constantly.

Might sound dumb, but maybe that's an advantage. They know what they're getting with Hurd, I don't think they know what they're getting with a Kamara, Kelly backfield. Just trying to be an optimist.
