Hurd is "day to day"

Butch is just getting Jalen in the right frame of mind to rip some Aggie Booty...like a mad dog...sic'em Smokey...:naughty:...:rock2::rock2:

GO VOLS!

If the Vols stumble into College Station, Hurdless, the Vols will suffer the consequences, I'm afraid.

Maybe we will run the Wishbone with all three backs.

Forget the Wishbone, what about a T-formation??? A "Power T for Tennessee" with Hurd at fullback would be perfect!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_formation

Incidentally, this is the offense that Knoxville Webb has run for 30+ years. Chad Pennington was overlooked as a recruit because he only passed the ball 5 to 10 times a game.

We might stop signing 5-star WRs, but a T-formation offense would be unstoppable with Dobbs and our backfield.

My thoughts on Hurd:

Everyone, including his teammates saw what happened. All players get there ass-chewed out for plays far less critical. If Hurd isn't man enough to accept his responsibility his teammates are probably more pissed at him than they are the coaches ("we get our ass chewed out and take it).....JMO

Ok thanks for the insight into what's really going on with Hurd. We've all been wondering.

I think it's been pretty well-established that Hurd got his bell rung versus Georgia and is not being punished. Jones claimed it was a lower extremity injury probably to avoid the concussion protocol. I'm hoping that decision doesn't come back to bite us. At any rate, Hurd is apparently dealing with concussion sickness, probably nausea and sensitivity to light. He probably won't play Saturday. My guess is that we will pass more due to Hurd's absence. We've faired well this year when forced to open up the offense.

It's been established for several days now that Hurd has a concussion; it may have happened on the fumble, but otherwise that fumble has nothing to do with his absence from practice.

Speculating that a player "isn't man enough to accept responsibility" is an irresponsible, gutless lie. People like you are an embarrassment to our fan base.

Unbelievable that people still think this was some kind of punishment.

The main thing I remember in the 3rd Qtr was Jalen sitting on the bench chewing on his clear mouth piece with a dazed somewhat confused look like he had gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Would explain the concussion.

The counter to that was that he did go back into the game.

My thoughts were he got his bell rung in the first half and his head was still feeling the effect of a hit. It would be irresponsible for him to play without evaluation but maybe he was monitored at some point.

It's fine if you want to speculate, but when you assume probable symptoms such as nausea and sensitivity to light, we know your either pulling this info out of your butt, or out of the Internet. Concussion symptomolgy is different for everybody and varies with each concussion.

I know I'm in the minority here - maybe even the only one thinking this. During the game I did think Hurd slowed as he got near the goal line, but other videos don't make that apparent, so maybe he was too casual maybe he wasn't; maybe camera angles and long lenses play with perspective. What was apparent was that Hurd was watching the defender to his right, and wasn't paying attention to the one who hit him. He may have been guilty of losing situation awareness and being blindsided, but I'm not convinced about the showboating charges. Could just be my lying eyes that make me disagree with the consensus though.

Josh and Will on the Sports Animal just said the situation was weird and that if it was a head injury he wouldn't have had his helmet all game and that he wouldn't have been on the final kickoff.

Josh said over and over he thought it was just Hurd in the doghouse and Butch saying anything other than an injury was coach just trying not to throw Hurd under the bus.

Just passing on what they are discussing.
I just don't believe he is in the doghouse. Otherwise the whole team would be benched. He redeemed himself. It has to be an injury.
