Hurd would be better behind a better line. That being said I do like Kamara and Hurd in the backfield at the same time. The first play of the Bama game Hurd was the lead blocker for Kamara and we didn't see it again. THATS CRAZY!

Both of them can catch. Why take them out of the game at all? If you're limited at Oline why not have them in there. You could run multiple sets with them being shifted around. I just don't get it.

Hurd is a between the tackles back. Our line hasn't held up and that's hurt him. I've noticed some shoe string tackles on him, but that's life. A thread like this is an insult to a back that has played through the dark days and helped bring the team back to recognition.

Completely agree! He needs to run up the middle with force and needs to let Kamara run the outside with speed and finesse. I think he is off a little but can you blame him? You run up the middle to keep the linebackers and secondary honest and open up the passing game and outside running options. The problem is he rarely gets to see the fruit of that labor. We rarely see the deep ball. I definitely don't want to be the one getting hammered every week by SEC linebackers for no reason. Just my opinion.

We should do what Baylor did last year in their bowl game. That equals the numbers in the box a bit.

Less than 2 yards pr carry on over 40% of his carries this season. And yet he had way more carries than kamara or dobbs last weekend.
Everyone on here bashes me when I question butchs ability to make simple, common sense observations. So how can anyone defend butch's continued use of Hurd on the read option? It's a waste of a down.

Please...don't go with the "if you're so smart you should be a coach". Lol. It's old and ridiculous. Just hard to understand why we can all recognize something and yet the coaches don't chance

Your statistic is a little strange at best. averaged on 40%?

Anyway, you're talking about a situation where you can't disconnect the two, does Kamara get all those yards if we don't run Hurd up the middle? Does Kamara stay healthy if we run him 30 times a game? Will some fans be unhappy regardless? Are receivers have dropped a tremendous amount of balls does that mean we should stop throwing the ball? Would any running back want to come to the University of Tennessee if after running behind a crappy line for 3 years all we do is complain he doesn't get enough yards?

I agree the line is just not get off the line of scrimmage and opening wholes.

Cobb is just not able to see down field either. I am not sure Tennessee is able to throw more than five yards down field.

So 60% Hurd gets more than 2 yards?? Maybe Hurd wears Sex Panther.

You posted on the "OL pass efficiency thread" where we are ranked 14th in the SEC. Are you suggesting Hurd is running behind a great OL and just can't get it together this season?

Please delete this thread. Unbelievable to me some of our fans bash or future all time leading rusher. Not to mention he has done this behind a horrible line and a scheme ass backwards to his attributes. Post less

He should have quoted the reference so it wasn't directly linked to him.

The writer pulls only pieces of information while ignoring other facts should as injuries and time on the field.

He's only doing this so they'll switch him to TE next season.

But seriously, Hurd is a monster. If it's 4th and goal on the 2, you run Hurd. I keep seeing all these Hurd -vs- Kamara -vs- Dobbs with carries and yards. It's not really fair with the play calling. He's the featured back (and has earned that) and 99% of the time, the defense knows he's coming straight up the middle.
