So? what was happing in the second quarter when Alabama db's walked up on wr's almost exclusively in man. Like what I said or not you have take shots. Our WR couldn't get opening move the pocket so something to make the opposing team respect us. I think OC is good but we have do better.

I really wish the Mods would kill this thread.

Every time I open volnation and see this thread at the top I get a shudder that starts in my taint.

It's embarrassing that anyone calling themselves Vol fans would support it.

It's okay to have the opinion that Kamara is a better back in this offense, but to be mean and disrespectful to a member of this team that has worked his behind off to help his school is beyond low down.

There are more tasteful ways to discuss topics like this.

Its not the same Jalen Hurd as 2014 and 2015. Something internally has gone wrong with him and this program/staff. Ever since the showboat fumble against GA, Ive thought there was/is some sort of tension between him and CBJ. Maybe he feels slighted by Kamara...my friend said he was soft in HS and was pampered to the max. Like most of you said, something is very odd with him.

Saturday down south has him listed mid season as one of the biggest disappointments of 2016. They specifically cited his 3.8 yards per carry.

He either better kick it into high gear for the second half or strongly consider another year here. These stats will adversely effect his draft position

I would say the professionals can see he has no blocking from a crap line. He is getting killed behind or at the line of scrimmage most plays. Hard to get yards that way. I don't care what his stats say this year, he is a beast. Maybe the offensive staff should utilize his strengths and let him get the ball close to full speed instead of at a standstill.

I for one have never questioned his heart or desire. He plays hard whether he gets the ball or is blocking. For those of you questioning him, think about him diving to recover the game winning TD against App State or him carrying a pile of defenders in the Florida game.

Saying he has ever been "soft" is laughable as are most posts in this thread.

It's people like you that generate these ridiculous kind of rumors.

Jalen put up 1300 yards last season. So, in every game, there is usually a spy on him every time that he's on the field. I mean, you people do actually watch the games, right. It's not rocket science; it's pretty easy to see. Go back and watch what Foster does after Jalen's first 2 runs in the Bama game. He was on him like stink on $hit the rest of the game.

Couple of spy with a mediocre line all season, and guess what, Jalen is not going to put up great numbers.

For a long time I have suspected he is playing with some level of of pain every darn game. His heroic plays of dragging four and five players have to come at a physical price. When he's a hundred percent, he seems to get stronger as the game progresses. I feel like he has been hurt giving his all in our come back wins. I sure hope the bi-week gives him the time to heal. Assuming I'm correct.

Wtf are you guys doing ? Hurd is a huge asset to us. He gets spied, takes a beaten and keeps grinding. You guys started stupid ass threads like this about a kid who most likely leave the school as the yardage leader? You know I like Kamara too but it seems when he's featured he may not be so durable after all when he is the focal point. Now for everyone fixing to jump my **** because I said that think of how stupid it sounds and think about you are saying. Good grief mods **** can this thread

I ran into Hurd at the mall last evening, and I told him face-to-face that every time he ran the ball, it was a wasted down for UT. So there. Oh wait, four more surgeons just walked in to have a look at me.

If the title of this thread suggesting that given the ball to a player that will likely be the ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER IN TENNESSEE HISTORY in only three years of playing is wasting a down?

Actually.....never mind. I'd like to commend the OP for posting this thread. If nothing else came out of it, it did accomplish one thing. I can now come to this thread and immediately have a reference to the people who don't have a f***ing clue about football and how it is played, short of knowing that there are a bunch of guys running around on a football field and every now and then someone scores.

I understand that we are all supposed to be UT football fans, but some of you really need to be silent fans. Your ignorance is embarrassing.

The system is wasting Hurd IMO. We should be lining up in weak and strong sets with Hurd as the deep back. Of he had a lead blocker and could get to the second level...

Hurd is like having a tight end in the backfield with the great exception that he's harder to bring down than any tight end I've ever seen play. Pershing tank.

Hurd would've been an incredible fullback in a Johnny Majors offense. Hurd is a punishing blocker and is also good at carrying the rock. During the Majors era, quarterbacks were encouraged to throw down the field, which opened things up to run between the tackles, and Hurd & Kamara lined up in an I-formation with Hurd lead blocking for Kamara in a wide open offense, or Hurd pounding the rock would've been something to see. He was born 25-30 years too late.
