Hurd deserves respect

We should have been able to run the clock out and it almost got us beat. That's what happens when you go ultra conservative; you can't stop playing. One more first down would have sealed it. I put that on the coaches.

Burning clock and forcing Georgia to use their three time outs was the correct strategy. Getting risky with play calls would be stupid and one incomplete pass adds about 40 seconds for Georgia to beat you.

Some of you all are just a special kind of ignorant.

Coaches do not bench their best players because they make mistakes - Ever! If that's the case, our whole team would be benched. He went in after that play and then scored a TD, but hey, we're going to bench you now. Idiots.

Agree with what you say. BUT is it necessary to call everyone that does not agree with idiots. Seems to me to only devalue what you have said before, because all these folks are not idiots!

Hurd is a beast. Without him this team wouldn't be what it is.

When we were trying to run the clock out with 2 minutes left in the game, I was really wishing we had Hurd in there.

I was wishing we would run a pass play. Dobbs doesn't have to throw it, but at least make them cover it, maybe scramble for some yards, if something is open then bury them.

Great win.

Go Vols!

Our season would have been wrecked if not for Jalens scramble to that Dobbs fumble against Appy St.

Let the gas off on one play and paid for it. Big picture: has busted his azz for 3 years, doesn't showboat, doesn't trash talk, blocks like a mofo, work horse of a running back in a scheme that frequently leaves him fighting like hell to get back to the LOS, reliable, has won multiple games for us, and is still likely to be the all-time leading rusher in UT history. I'd bet nobody is more unhappy or embarrassed with that play than him. The small number of fans trash talking him and seeming to delight in him "getting benched" suck.

He's a college kid. They make mistakes. I hope he learns from this and plays harder than ever before.

Some of you people....ugh. The kid has done so much for this team it's unreal. He made a bonehead mistake. Kamara got stripped early and I don't hear anyone fussing about that.

What was the injury then after he scored a touchdown using his "lower extremities"? He had a mental error and Kamara had the hot hand and so he was benched. Idiot.

Really, Kamara's hand was hot? Lol You mean his 3.8 yards per carry hot?

Why don't you go back and watch the play before Jalen's TD in the "3rd quarter" (you know way after his bonehead move in the 2nd quarter that he got benched for)? Did you see Butch digging grass and dirt out of Jalen's face mask?

Jalen was pulled due to concussion protocol after the TD. Bad headache, dizziness, couldn't see well, etc. I don't care if you believe me or not, but that's what happened. It's a fact - whether it fits what you'd like to be true or not.

Butch would never sit a player for making a mistake. Hell, our whole team would be benched every week then. If he had a problem with Jalen, he would have dealt with it in practice this week.

Is what it is. Jalen will be fine. He will be ready and A&M.

I have a bigger issue with the interception after Dobbs was on the receiving end of a brain duster. That was a bad play call or failed execution right after Dobbs took a hit to the head.

Well, "some" of the people on here are idiots. It's very subjective, and I'm sure you feel that way sometimes too. If you disagree with my methods, that's fine, but you're not me.

Yep I saw it i was right in front of it. It was after a run to the right side where he was tackled by our sideline. I remember thinking greathat now we are in trouble. Glad he's alright 99% of us love Jalen don't let a few bad apples change your perspective of us, most of us look at him and the team as family. Go vols

Very much a possibility. The hit that Hurd took on the goal line fumble play could have concussed him.

Good point. Last I'll say on this. Hurd made a huge, game/momentum changing mental error that was a 14 or swing. Butch's injury reports are suspect at best. We should all know that by now! He scored his 2nd half TD using his "lower extremities" and then sat out until the last ST play of the game and was also seen running onto the field to celebrate with his team. It was even reported by Allie LaForce of CBS that he had not received any medical attention. All of those factors lead me to believe the "injury" is all for not and he was benched. Kamara having the hotter hand could have helped that decision.

I support Hurd and our team. Did I give up on them yesterday? Yes. I will eat crow for the "resiliency and resolve" of this team and won't make that mistake again.

At the end of the day we are all Vol fans. SMDH

No one should be trashing him. A great vol. He made a mistake.

and if these same idiots watched the locker room celebration video you can clearly see Jalen walking away on the left side holding his head. I can't believe the audacity of these people. Jalen has clearly carried this team for 3 years, taking a beating, and never complains. They will miss him next year. You can believe that!!!!

I'm not bashing Hurd one bit. I'm puzzled as to why a media member who spoke to team sources reported that he had not been tended to by the medical staff well after he had not played several series. And if he was actually tended to for concussion protocol then why does Butch fudge on the injury. There's no benefit whatsoever.

No point in carrying on this ridiculous argument.

If Hurd is injured (for a concussion) then it was misreported, I stand corrected and hope he gets well because we need him for the next 2 in a big way.

I was an idiot calling for him to be benched after the fumble. Even with the lapse in concentration, dude is every bit as responsible as any Vol for the great start. Hopefully this will light a fire in him and he trucks many Aggies this coming week.

I'm hoping Hurd is more mature then some of the fans. You do something stupid in a big game, you are going to take some heat. I do not think any coach hear forgets what he has contributed, but I trust the coaches to have a better understanding of what has been going on. If he was set aside i doubt it was over the drop alone... I will say he has been under performing as of late, though it's often hard to tell how much is him, and how much is the offensive line. What frustrated me about Jalen, is he has talent to be Heisman potential, but has not lived up to it. He maybe NFL bound either way, but he'll have a lot more opportunities if finishes strong here. He really needs to step up his game. We need Hurd at his very best next two games.

I love Hurd and am glad he is a Vol but our type of offense is not a "best fit" for his skill set. I hope the NFL can see past that.

Thankfully they had one TO left or their bomb would have been the last play. So glad they didn't do time runoff!

Without Jalen Hurd's hustle in OT during App State, we lose that one. Mental lapse on the fumble. Happens. Move on. He will be needed especially in the next two weeks.
