Hunt's words after the game

PSU scored one touch down against the Vol defense. Hunt had a good day but is comments were a bit out of touch. Still the lead up to bowl season certainly provided this context. The Vols did come out flat and I am thinking that the loss of Smith had a lot to do with this.

Hunt was the second-most talented back out there. Our coaches decided to keep the most talented kid on the sideline for most of the game. Meanwhile, Hardesty and Foster fumble away UT's chance for victory.

And how many TD's did this butt plug have on us? 0, nade, nil. He earned an ass whipping for running his man pleaser like that. If, on the other hand, he ran on us like McFadden, then I can see it. He is a decent RB, but not quite as good as he thinks he is. If he makes it to the NFL, I hope he meets Mr. Haynesworth, and a size 14 cleat.
man pleaser????? .....:post-4-1090547912: :post-4-1090547912: now thats funny...

To sum up what he said "Tennessee's defense is soft"

I knew that week 2 after the Air Force game. He could have been more humble about it all but he earned the right to say something of that nature.

This is true, but Coker had issues coming into the game that kept him out. The discipline has to be tough even if it isn't always best for the team at the time. I know I don't want to hear how UT has problems keeping there players in check like in past years. I respect Fulmer for his disciplining this year. Even if I think Fulmers time is about up.

Hunt had some good runs. I know he had 158yrds, but we did keep him out of the endzone. He was able to march them down the field on the last drive for the fieldgoal. That pretty much put it away.

3 turnovers and a lack of offensive energy beat the vols not Hunt!

Too bad we couldn't have played this game back at the begining of December. Our Vols suck after long breaks.

You sir, signify everything that is wrong with your team. All talk - smoke and mirrors if you will. Plus, to somehow hold up Haynesworth's stomping incident as some sort of medal of honor is just downright idiotic. That's not football, its thuggery.

First off, my hat goes off to the Vols for an exciting game. No matter which side you were pulling for, both teams were in the game until almost the very end and had it not been for the Foster fumble, we could very well be talking about an entirely different ball game from that point forward. Hunt's comments after the game weren't out and out disrespectful, but after having heard how fast and dominant the SEC teams were and the talking heads giving PSU next to no chance against UT, I can't blame him for being a little arrogant after the game. Those comments aren't any different than what we hear from any other player on any other team after a big game.

Second, I am from Tennessee but a PSU Alumni, so this was a very exciting game for me to begin with. Made for an interesting day out in the area with my PSU gear on!

Good post. Don't listen to him, he's been classless quite often.

The reason Hunt didn't have a TD is because he didn't get many, if any, touches inside the 10. If he had, he would have scored.

Thanks. I honestly don't know why they took the ball out of his hands on that last drive to the 1. I know they were trying to confuse the Tennessee defense by giving to the Fullback (he rarely gets any touches) but when that failed, they should have given it back to Hunt like they normally do, at least for one last surge to the endzone.

I know that you guys have had your share of confusing playcalling from the coaching staff, but don't feel like your alone, we PSU'ers have had to endure that stuff all season long. And with the exception of last year, for MANY years.

Pretty weak that he talked smack after the fact. He should have credited his offensive line first.

JoePa - I think you are right on almost all your points - but honestly that game just was not exciting - in fact I thought both teams looked sloppy (and for the record I made that comment in the first half - so it wasn't sour grapes). Not giving it to Hunt there at the end is a prime example of neither coaching staff really shining (UT's side of that equation is obvious). And yeah, as a Vol fan, that Haynesworth reference embarrassed me.

Most of his yards were with 2 and 3 of our guys hanging on for dear life, I don't like the smack talk but he did take care of business on the field.(Not taking away from PSU's o-line)

Different strokes, I guess. I found the game to be a nail biter, I guess because I have been catching a lot of heat here being a PSU alum.

But beyond that, you have a point and its something that most PSU fans have been saying all year. Some of the play calling is beyond ridiculous. Not giving it to Hunt inside the 5 has happened several times this year and there has been no valid reasoning discussed for it at any point this year. While I'm happy with the win and the way the team played, the coaching staff on our side still has a lot of question marks attached to it. If you think the conversation is heated at UT, go check out the PSU faithful.

your staff has a lot of question marks??? granted, there were a few things i looked and thought, wow, can't believe they did that...esp. that 50 yard fg attempt in the 4th qtr....that was as good as a turnover as far as i was concerned. fortunately you were playing us though. we found a way to screw that up and took the coaches off the hook for you guys.

For all we know, Phil could have passed out, died, in the first quarter and we wouldnt know because they just kept showing that old man in the booth.

that is directly attributed to the lack of coaching by Phil Fulmer... the guy is a great recruiter but a terrible coach... ala Zook.

This is surreal . . . Comments on bowl preparation from a ND fan? :eek:k:

You guys haven't won a bowl game since MC Hammer still had a career.

Notre Dame's bowl failures are well documented. Your flame isn't news to me and the fact that Notre Dame hasn't won a bowl game in over a decaded doesn't degrade my analysis one bit. Your defensive mindset is humorous.

If you think Fulmer is a great coach, good for you... Personally, I hope you keep him for another 20 years, because, I think the unbiased folk see that he is such an under-achiever.

edit: or, maybe you ARE right... maybe, just maybe UT was supremely prepared for the Outback Bowl vs. Penn State... it SURE looked like UT was prepared. right.

If you are going to discipline a guy, don't let him play. Fulmer let him play in the game. What kind of discipline is that? Apparently he believes it is best to punish the entire team instead by letting them lose behind the rushing of backs that aren't Coker's caliber.
