Hunter hurt (merged)

The ACL if torn is repairable. Medicine and surgery are amazing, the most important factor is if theres any further damage inside the knee which the MRI will reveal.

I hate to see injuries, and I hope for a speedy recovery.

he must be pretty damn tough then if this is true. i saw him walk off the field with a limp. i sure hope and pray to the good lord that this aint the case!!

I feel pretty sure that it is in fact a torn ACL. I know people that have played basketball between tearing their ACL and surgery as long as the ACL is the ONLY damage done to the knee. I am however worried about his "want to" about football. I know that there was a lot of skeptics in the offseason saying that he didn't really care about football, and I'm worried to see what happens after that. But at the end of the day he is a human being and we should care about him outside of the future of our program

Depends on the exact injury. There are some guys that play with a tear knowing it'll hurt but won't get worse. I think we had a case like that recently.

I was afraid of this. My concern now is once he's healed, will he want to play football again? I know when he first got to campus he was doing a lot of talking about the Olympics. But obviously he can make a living playing football. This sucks. Just hoping for a speedy recovery whatever the injury is.

That's what I'm afraid of. I hope he doesn't say "I can't risk the Olympics by playing football."

Saw my kid tear acl in a soccer game; not knowing it was that, they tried to jog a bit, tape it up and play more, but after just a minute they knew that was bad idea.

But played two years of college soccer after acl repair.

I walked off the field when I blew mine out. It doesn't hurt so much as you just know something is very, very wrong inside your knee. You can even go without getting it fixed and continue to play but the ACL provides almost 90% of the stability of the knee joint.

Same way Chuck Webb walked off the field against Pacific and was never able to play another game.... can't always go by the walk

Torn ACL today isn't like a torn ACL 15 or 20 years ago. He can recover fully...but not this season.

That doesn't mean he will be the same upon returning. Different guys are affected differently by it. A lot of times, even if the knee is 100% fixed and better, just the fear or re-tearing it is enough to mess with a guy's game.

Everyone keeps saying these kids are going to leave because they showed out a few times. He had a lot of potential, was going to have a big year, didn't happen. Pump the brakes guys, on Bray and Hunter, even Da'Rick. We know the media and everyone make it all about the money these days but your never know what a kid will do. Luck passed up millions to come back. These kids might too.

I'd be more concerned about landing than jumping. ACL surgeries are a lot different now than they used to be. The best surgeons now can do an "inside the knee" approach, which speeds up recovery time and reduces risks.

This guy is on point...ACL injuries have become very common place in sports, and I'm sure UT will have a very good surgeon working on him. With that said the hardest part of an injury like this (and I speak from experience) is not the rehab, because he's used to a grueling workout, but it will be getting out there next year and going 100% without worrying about it. It took me almost 2 months before that little thing in the back of my mind went away.

As far as the Olympics go, he's done for 2012 because try-outs will be in the spring and he will not be ready to go at that point. He will still be rebuilding muscle and getting into shape. Its a damn shame but lets hope he comes back the same Justin who walked onto the field yesterday.

Luck is also receiving a Stanford degree.

I hope the kid's o'kay. As having witnessed a torn ACL (I actually heard the guy's ACL "pop") I think the injured player knows what has happened. But maybe it's not the case here. BTW, did anyone else see the receiver from FSU get sandwiched at the neck last night. I thought the kid was dead. Pretty sickening hit. After a visit to the hospital, he was back on the sideline in the 4th. Good to see. Could have been much, much worse.

Torn ACL.

What a damn shame.

On a other note, we need someone other than zach rogers to replace him. He looked terrible. Looked slow and missed some catches.

DaRick also missed a few. I was hoping he would step up now that he is the unquestioned #1 WR. He could've made a few more catches had he not been afraid to get hit.

Arnett looked good but he looks more like a slot guy. I was impressed with him.

Time to see Milton and Dallas can step up.

Is this speculation? Or has this been confirmed?

I've had two ACL tears and I feel for the kid. Fortunately for elite athletes they tend to heal and recovers more easily, particularly when they have the kind of doctors and rehab facility that UT can provide.

Very sad to hear if true. I always heard about how great of an athlete Justin was and then I found some Track and Field highlights from back in HS. The kind of performance he puts up is nuts, the kid is very impressive. All the best to Justin, I hate injuries like these to athletes with such a bright future.

not confirmed yet. hunter is just telling everyone its acl. no mri yet. he might just be saying this to not let fans down, but he would rather focus on track and field. it may ot even be torn, just doesnt want to let fans down
