This thread will probably be sent to the "pub" but, my motivation for starting it, was initiated by my excitement for this game, true SEC football in Tennessee. GBO

I've been in Florida for almost 14 year's, I don't know anyone from TN here, and I don't know 1 person that likes the Vols. During football season, I get a "verbal beating" almost everyday. Anyway, I was thinking last night about the things I missed most about TN. Here are a few of my thoughts, I would like to hear some of yours. If you live in TN, what do you appreciate about it.

I Miss:

the smell of a chainsaw's exhaust, on a Saturday afternoon in the woods.

the sound of John Ward on the radio of an old beat-up truck, while my dad sharpens the chain on the chainsaw.

the smell of tobbaco smoke from the barn coming through the screen door of an UNLOCKED house.

walking out of the woods from deer hunting, into a corn field on a cool October night.

being around people that appreciate the value of tradition.

the fall colors.

leaving work early and driving to Knoxville for a game, then spending the night in Gatlinburg

the earth actually "rumbling", a half of a mile from Neyland.

Peeing off my back porch. Hey, Marty Stewart said "if you can't pee off your back porch, you are living in the wrong house".

REAL women!!

I have a few more but, these are at the top of my list, and I WON"T miss these F'ing gators when I leave!

There's plenty of UT fans in Florida. The Florida fans are a little different though. They pee on their front porch.

My friend ... I was once exiled to the land of gator's(let's just say if God were to give the earth an enima that it would be the place He would stick the tube) after taking their money and living that way I was finally given a repreave... and now today I have come home to Vol land (the land that flows with Milk and Honey's) So my concern for you condition is real and true. But as I read your post , I must say, even living here I still miss the same things... They seem to no longer exsist, except in an old man's memory.... :dunno:

Things I appreciate bout my TN:

Hauling massive yellow cats from a muddy hoop net. (Good summer one, I'll stick to Fall for da rest)

Finding a ripe persimmon tree in the woods.

The way the leaves look and smell on gameday in East Tn in October, particularly after a rain.

Saturday nights at my bud's house yelling at 3 tv's with a sweaty whiskey glass in my paw.

Waking up Sunday morning with the 1st thought in my frazzled brain being "Holy **** we destroyed Bama last night... It's gonna be a good day."

Been a while since that last one, let's hope we can turn it round this year. V,B

Nothing wrong with Gatlinburg, just don't come in October...Newly weds and nearly deads....Gatlinburg turns into God's waiting room this time of year lol

Well, already married, got pretty good health. Guess I will be in the minorty next week.:)

To the original OP. I know the feeling. Building fires in tobacco barns had to be done before lunch. If not, it didn't get done.:)

There are lots of Vol fans here in South Florida if you want to make the drive on gameday. There are all fans or alumni and mostly live in Miami or Ft.Lauderdale. They meet every Saturday about 30 of us at Shenanigan's in Hollywood. The bar-restaurant has a room set up only for us. During halftime, we always have a raffle and give Vol gifts away. Also, there's another chapter in West Palm Beach that does the same thing every Saturday, also golf events, etc....Email me at cejayvols@yahoo.com if you interested and I'll send you the info and put you on the mailing list with updates.

I go to Florida 4-5 times every year and I see more Vols bumper stickers, hats, and car flags there than I do at home in Nashville.

What area of FL are you in?

I've got 4 relatives who are Vol fans (from casual to hard core) in the center of the state around Orlando.

None of them advertise their allegiance however, and neither did I when I lived down there for awhile, since doing so imperils your mental, if not also physical, health. :)

Made my first pot of sassafrass tea this morning. Fresh pork sausage and brown eggs for breakfast. Still eating fresh tomatoes from my garden. Out on the patio as the sun comes over the hills. The warm scent of Bowaters wafting on the morning breeze. I love the smell of Bowaters in the morning. It smells like......Victory. :zeitung_lesen:

My Mom used to make sassafraa tea, I hated it, but sure would like to have some now.

Fresh tomatoes from your own garden! Forgot about that one.
