Hugh Freeze Resigns

None of you guys are actually seeing this for what it actually is!

Ole Miss has seen a high that they have only briefly seen once (Eli Mannings one big year) in the past five decades. Beat Bama twice while Bama was a perineal contender, had several other big time wins and had more excitement surrounding their program than we have had in over a decade.

The worse that is going to happen to them is that they are just going back down to the pre-Hugh Freeze level.

Personally, I think for them, it was probably worth it.
Ole Miss is about to get a penalty worse than USC got. Two to three year bowl ban, scholarship restrictions, recruiting restrictions, and current players allowed to transfer wo penalty. The difference is Ole Miss isn't USC; they won't recover in our lifetime.

Nutt didn't dig up dirt so much as he got lucky. He was actually digging for something else (being smeared by Freeze) and in the process got him to release a phone number that he didn't even have to. Nutt and his attorney were only interested in the work-related numbers; he could have removed his personal calls.

.

Not so sure this was luck. It seems like Nutt knew what he was looking for. I wonder if he still has some good contacts in Oxford that tipped him off about this.

Agreed. Not recovering in our lifetime is a stretch, but they are a limited-resource school playing in currently the toughest or second toughest division in the country. They will be a zombie program for years, with the ceiling probably being 6-6.

Except Petrino made a moral mistake in his personal life; it had nothing to do with the NCAA. The day schools get put on probation because the coach has an affair is the day the NCAA becomes the most obsolete organization in the country.

Petrino has the moral high ground on Freeze. Think about that for a minute.

They're not going to be nationally relevant in the next twenty to thirty years.

Well, he clearly knew about an orchestrated campaign on the part of Ole Miss to spread untrue information about him, and suspected that would be revealed in the phone records. He was correct in his assessment, but I'd be surprised if he also knew about this. All Freeze had to do was remove the personal phone calls from the information he turned over to Nutt's attorney and we still wouldn't know. By the nature of the request, he appeared Nutt was only interested in finding (aka he only knew about) the calls Freeze made to reporters.

Does this not become a legal matter if Freeze is found purchasing prostitutes, especially for kids under 18?
I would say it would be almost impossible to prove BUT you know the damn degree of arrogant stupidity to call an escort service on a university phone is just mind boggling. If someone digs more OR if an escort publishes a story it could get more interesting. Somewhere there is a news outlet trying to get a statement from one of these escorts.

I fully expect one of the escorts to make a statement at some point.

There is no way in hell I could make it as a college football coach in the south, even if I had more knowledge than belichick

Most of the higher ups need to go as well. I'm not buying their act about not knowing what's been going on for the last several years

That's the part that gets me - the school and the AD have been bloviating about their support for Freeze since the foundation started to crack around his supposed piety and ivory tower.

It just really seems very convenient that he's going to take the fall and Ole Miss is going to saddle him with it all, while the entire dumpster fire rages around it.

A little too convenient, doesn't it?

Those escorts were for recruits, or were for both Freeze and recruits. And the athletic administration had to know about it.

True, but one of Nutt's other comments centered around Freeze setting himself up to be such good moral Christian. Sounds like he knew this wasn't the case and was looking for the information to prove it.

Either way, it's certain that Nutt spend today either on a golf course or in a coffee shop high fiving friends and giggling his butt off.

And it is the height of irony too. Houston Nutt himself was undone by a review into his phone records at Arkansas.

Already heard a guy on sports radio (99.1) defend Freeze as not a hypocrite, but just "human".

"Human" in this context should be bending the rules some trying to hard to get a competitive edge. Not inquiring into hiring hookers for recruits/players.

Houston would be a good landing spot. After Applewhite goes belly up in a couple.

Freeze? By the end of this season, he might make a Kiffin/Sarkisian type visit to Alabama. Within two years and depending on who wants to make a change, I could see one of the lesser Big 10 or Big 12 wanting him.

Right now, he looks as dead as Petrino did. For all we know, Freeze might have been calling that escort number for phone sex. Petrino was reportedly more "involved" and he recovered. Once a little time passes, Freeze will get another shot.

And when he does, he just needs to live his faith and not talk it.

I had forgotten about that. If it isn't irony, it was using his own personal experience to bring down Freeze. The hypocrisy of the profession knows no bounds.

I remember Freeze pouring on that self-righteousness and holier-than-thou to get Kongbo to head to Oxford. Luckily, he didn't buy into it.

Freeze reminds me of Jim Bakker selling those Rapture-Ready meal supplies.

He is recieving a severance. So, that tells you something. Recieving money after breaking a clause in the contract?

Nah, he wasn't calling them on his behalf. It was for the recruits. They are both placing this on Freeze. In the end, it helps both Ole Miss and Freeze!

There's no way the head coach lines up escorts for recruits. That's a job for the lowest man on the totem pole. This was for personal use and why Ole Miss told him resign or we release the rest; which would've absolutely embarrassed him and ruined his family even worse.
