Y'all done with Cornbread yet?

Worse coach in UT history brought to you be Fulmer

Need to run both out on a rail

Needs a few more years, the team is young and Covid has really hampered the progression of everyone. Proud of Jeremy and the guys to get this team to a bowl game and grab that 200 thousand dollar bonus.

But, in the event of having to find a new coach, I guarantee Tennessee has the right person leading the ship. Between his personal experience of hiring assistants, his handing of raises to both Holly Warlick and Jeremy Pruitt and the behind the scenes work to singlehandedly keep Rick Barnes, Phil Fulmer is the man for the job. Hopefully Tennessee can have him come back and coach and make Tee Martin his offensive coordinator. I hear John Chavis has some free time, too?

Okay, I agree that the current TEs have not been able to show what they can do on the field due to multiple issues, i.e. QB, blocking issues with the O line, scheme and/or play calling. If we had a true TE talent, they would show out to a degree despite everything else. All things considered, having an in-state, highly regarded, position focused, true TE recruit with size, speed, and hands that was projected to be a likely freshman starter like Hunter Henry, is a badly needed player.
Oh, UT needs these guys. No doubt.

OL blocking isn't a particular issue when you have a QB doing his job. Bailey has been sacked a couple of times but he won't take those sacks once experienced.

The problem I have with the OL still goes back to Pruitt.

One of the things Dooley did "right" was his strategy for developing the O... or that of Chaney. He had a very inexperienced OL. So first they focused on mastering pass protection and developing a passing game. Only then did they start to focus on the run game. By year three, UT scored 36 ppg and allowed the fewest sacks in the SEC. Pruitt could have chosen his QB of the future and done the same with this OL.

the 1st thing that came to my mind after seeing LSU against Bama this past Sat. No doubt that UT is gonna move on Gilbert and he was HB's go to guy their senior year at Marietta.
everyone thus far who has posted except ravol doesn't have a clue that gilbert will leave LSU and commit to UT. Could this have any bearing on Wolfe's decision? Might want to check out Gilbert's recruitment ratings. He knows that he's a weapon and will be under-utilized at LSU.........he gone. Now where will he go?

I'm guessing or hoping this was meant to be blue font.
If not, wow I have no words

If you're wanting to get to the next level as a TE, it's probably not a good idea to go to a school that doesn't throw to the TE.

Fulmer needs to pull the plug now before this gets worse. The longer you wait, the worse it is going to be for the next coach.

I’m shocked. HS player don’t want to sign papers and play for Pruitt? What’s next, players wanting to transfer. 🙄😂😂

Sorry but it’s hard to even have an emotional connection to the Vol FB program any more.

Pruitt and Fulmer's new plan is to basically waste this recruiting cycle and try to bring in enough transfers to beat up on our cupcake out of conference schedule next season and pick off two or three of our fellow SEC bottom feeder brethren to achieve bowl eligibility and declare that the train is back on the rails after a 'hiccup' due to COVID. They will give themselves another round of raises an extensions.

I like the thinking, but I think you're giving Slingblade and the Phlegmatic One WAAAAAY too much strategic thinking credit. They are there for the $$$, and both are gonna ride this as far as possible.

Brother, you forgot the blue font. Sadly, there are a few in here who will read that and feel vindicated in their dedication to Beldar and Workin' Like Heck.

(Yes, I used different nicknames....gotta keep is fresh)

You can’t pull the plug right now because of how close it is to signing day and risk losing more guys who have established relationships. The only way to pull plug after signing day is to have a home run ready to take over right then and there where the recruits would listen to what he has to say before decommitting and having his LOI removed.

We’re in a helluva situation . You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

How would you know if they're serviceable or not? Fant has 9 receptions on the year. Six have come in the last two games. JG's weakness and slowness in reading D's... left the TE's unutilized.

Just for fun, here is how I make my evaluation of the TE position. This is factual evaluation, not my actual opinion of the players. Overall, there is potential from a couple, but other than that, nothing jumps out so far. The more highly regarded TEs signed, the better.
Tennessee has 6 TEs currently on the roster. 2 RS Sr (Austin Pope, Jordan Allen), 1 RS Jr (Princeton Fant), 1 RS So (Jacob Warren), 2 RS Fr (Sean Brown, Hunter Salmon).
Austin Pope - out with injury, more than likely not returning next year.
Jordan Allen - originally signed as a WDE, moved to LB, moved to TE. Transferring out of the program.
Starters moving forward
Princeton Fant - 6'2", 240 lbs, originally signed as a 3 star WR, converted to TE. Spent 2018 as a running back, played in 2 games (3 rushes for 7 yds). 2019 was moved to TE and played in 8 games (2 receptions for 15 yds). 2020 started as TE and currently has 9 catches for 79 yds. Okay weight to height, not ideal height for a TE, average speed, good blocker.
Jacob Warren - 6'6", 248 lbs, signed as 3 star TE rated as #36 TE nationally, #22 player in TN. 2019 Played in 5 games (1 reception for 1 yd). 2020 has played in all 8 games and has 5 catches for 40 yds. Great weight to height, ideal height for a TE, good speed, average blocker.
Sean Brown - 6'5", 246 lbs, signed as 3 star TE rated as #40 TE nationally, #79 player in GA. 2019 played in 2 games with no stats. Given RS. 2020 no games played. Great weight to height, ideal height for a TE. With no game film to evaluate, based on recruiting evaluation he was considered fast for the position (no actual time listed), quick movement with good hands with good ability to make into 2nd level. Above average blocker with athletic frame.
Hunter Salmon - 6'5", 253 lbs, walk on TE, NR nationally or state. 2019 and 2020, no stats. No evaluation available. Great weight to height, ideal height for a TE.
No TE taken in 2020 recruiting class. Thoughts were that jumbo athlete Dee Beckwith would be used at TE but as of now he has not been used offensively and has played in 1 game on special teams. Listed as RB on roster.
3 remaining commits for TE in 2021 recruiting. Top TE target Miles Campbell, and projected TE, ATH recruits Trinity Bell and Roc Taylor.
Losing 2019 TE Jackson Lowe (#12 rated TE) to transfer hurts.
