Serious question.......... what is Randy Shannon doing now? Is he a candidate anywhere else?
I havent researched this at all so just off the top of my head. May not be accurate. I think that Randy took the year off. He has been rumored to be in the mix for DC positions at Arkansas and UCLA. There are a bunch of schools that visualize Randy signing on as the DC and bringing a boatload of South Florida speed and talent with him. He is 45 years old. I do think that he will have to take a coordinator position before he gets another chance at a head coaching position. I would guess that Tennessee chances of landing him is maybe 10%. Never say never but I do think it is a long shot.
Again, I am not connected at all and so that is merely speculation from a sports junkie.
So Hubbs said that Steele is the top choice but RS is in play as a backup?

The Hart vs DD part of this I don't believe or at the very most is way overblown.

That would be what everyone has said. Dooleys top choice but Hart wants RS.How can Dooley not see that Shannon would be the better hire. Plus who's to say Steele would even come. He used us to get a raise last time.
I've said it before...if Hart is already overruling...after his diatribe on allowing coaches to do their jobs...then we are not in very good shape. He has no reason to employ Dooley if Dooley cannot make his own hires.
I agree with you 100%.

That's not what Hubbs said this morning on 104.5. He said that Shannon is a possibility and is a name that is being thrown around. He did say that Steele was probably the first call made, and mentioned that Wilcox was not Dooley's first or second choice the first time around.
True, I heard it too. The question was to name some guys that "haven't" been mention yet. Hubbs said the other Co-DC at Clemson, Charlie Harbison because they worked together at LSU. Hubbs then went into how Steele was Dooley's first choice but reminded everyone that Steele had the job last time so that Wilcox wasn't the first choice either.
Mark Howard then chimed in and asked about Randy Shannon. Hubbs replied by saying he was also being mentioned and a possibility. He just happens to believe Steele is the top choice and may be intrigued by UT more this time around because Dave Hart is now here and they (Steele and Hart) worked together at FSU and have a good relationship.
