Georgia is quickly becoming the most overrated team this preseason.

I'm with you...but I've been saying that since tehy were Schlabach's preseason #1 at the end of last year...

They are going to be a really good team...but I think UF has a more legit claim at preseason #1 than they do

Well at least you're being honest with yourself...being a self aware man myself I have to admire that...

I didn't realize your D was so stacked....what about the secondary...I thought Allen was the only player you had back there and the rest were inconsistent...

Do you think replacing your kicker will be an issue...I thought it would for us last year but Lincoln stepped up pretty well

we lost kelin johnson at FS but cj byrd should be better. he is a senior. reshad jones didnt start last but still had more tackles then byrd and johnson. he was a freshman and former number 1 DB in the nation coming out of HS. i think he will be our best DB by midseason. at the other corner, prince miller started almost every game last year. he is short but if he has trouble, we have 2 other corners that have started multple games.

i do thnk the kicker will be an issue. hopefully we wont have too many games come down to him.

well i think stafford was solid last year so this SHOULD be a breakout year for him snce teams will stackup to stop the run. the 2 OL are a legit concern. the WRs are a legit concern. we have solid WRs but to get where we wanna be we need at least 1 of them to be a playmaker. im not worried too much about the OL tho cuz last year we did ok up front with 3 freshman starting. our defense has no question marks. marcus howard was good but many will say he wasnt even our best DL. we lost 2 starters on D and both those replacements got plenty of PT last year. i think the defense is the true strength of the team for 2008

35-14
51-33

I couldn't help it... :)
just messin with ya!

First of all not once did I say we didnt have any question marks and if either of you two knew anything of my track record you would know that I have voiced numerous concerns on both offense and defense on this very board. Your lack of reading comprehension is laughable at best.

You said that the hype was based solely on the Stafford and Moreno hype. I then said we are returning starters at almost every position and have backups that are able to fill in. Now I didn't think that I was automatically giving us the MNC by making those statements.

Georgia does scare me this year a lot more than normal.

My understanding is that Stafford is still shaky...you know...talented but inconsistent...and that would worry me since he is half of the reason you all will be so highly rated...

I also hear that he doesn't have anyone proven to throw to...

I also hear that you are replacing two of your best OL's with people you are exactly confident in...

Defensively, I have heard you lost the most talented defender you have and pressuring the QB might be an issue...

You also lose your kicker...

This is just what I've been hearing...and I still think you will be a very good team....it just seems like those are too many questions to warrant the preseason #1 spot

I dont know that Stafford is shaky he looked good in the spring game and seems to be focused. As for the WR MoMass is coming back and we have a couple of talented people in the wings but no one proven. The O-line is the most talented that we have had in years. I think the biggest concern that we have, as you have mentioned, is the kicking game. We are either going to rely on a couple of walk on players or a freshman. That in itself is a scary thought.

I do think that overall we have the talent and depth to compete for the east. I think the major problem will be in our schedule and I just dont think any reasonable fan can expect to go through it unscathed.

ROFL at Fadeproof acting like UGA doesn't have holes.

K just for you my concerns as of now for our upcoming season.

1. Kicking game

2. Playmaker at DE

3. Playmaker at WR

No we have people that are talented and have experience at WR and DE just not at kicker. If a game comes down to a field goal or an extra point you could see people squirming in their seats.

Can you fill me in on what question marks you are speaking of? We are at least two deep at every position on both sides of the ball and we return 8 starters on offense and 9 on defense.

No need to get petty fade...I can assure you I'm quite capabale of reading and comprehending what I read...

Your assertion that you are two deep at every position as an answer to my question about holes you need to fill seemed as if you were implying you didn't have any question marks...

I bet if you ask 10 people on here to read that statement 9 out of 10 would interpret it the same way...

Not trying to get petty and maybe it was a out of line. For that I do apologize. I figured since you knew my track record on this board you would what I meant In no way shape or form do I think we are unbeatable just that we are as talented and deep as we have ever been.

Apology accepted and I admit I should have known better. I have been on here long enough to know that...

And I do agree that you all are looking good...it just seems the lack of a proven threat at WR and questions in the OL and kicking game would keep you out of the #1 spot...which it may...at this point none of us know

And truth is I think we would all agree that it doesn't matter anyway...the rankings aren't even relevant until about mid October in any given year

I would like to say that rankings dont matter but look at LSU last year. If you start near the top you have a much better chance of getting to the big show. No matter what the rankings you still have to take care of business on the field. Just think if media hype was what made NC then the Gators would have won last year.

If I'm a UGA fan, I'm scared to death of this team's true road woes from last year. Got killed at Tennessee, beat a bowl-less Vandy by 3, beat a 7-6 Alabama team by 3 in OT, and handled GT just fine.

Now they have to travel to LSU, Auburn, South Carolina, and Arizona State. They also travel to UK, but they are going to stink.

(and yes, I know UT wasn't a good road team last year, but this isn't about UT)

It is easy to be focused and not shaky when you don't have to worry about getting hit...

Starting near the top is better than the alternative.

We just have a bad recent memory of 2005 around here and realize that you can fall a lot futher as well.

UGA's Oline last year was awful and that was in a conference bereft of any defense. Getting starters back from last year's weak unit is hardly reason to expect dominance.

UGA's D last season was mediocre at best. I'm just not sure how that translates to dominance either.

Unless both units have some big time adds or are extremely lucky, UGA will have a UT '05 style season.

with maybe the exception of LSU (why they won the NC?), does it seem like the SEC as a whole is light on excellent lineman and heavy on superstar skill players?
