Been hearing this for years. What makes it worse is fans of other teams are coming in to reassure the Vol fan base. Thanks for the support but we've been waiting for "next year" way too long

I'm not trying to reassure you of anything. I don't have too. You know this Vol program is right there with the best. You had Oklahoma and Florida. Things are about to go your way.

I almost saw a fight between two vol fans where we were sitting. That was bad mojo the game was going south along with the atmosphere.

OP is exactly right. It was quieter than a morgue leaving the stadium.

Coach talked about watching body language to see if any players had quit -- if that's the signal, I saw 100,000 fans who've all but quit as they drug their rain soaked ponchos behind them and heads down.

I remember the year Coach Majors started the year by losing 5 in a row. Radio DJs were sitting on billboards until we won a game. He didn't just start every press conference with "again Bob, we...." He fired his legendary defensive coordinator and promoted the running back coach who completely changed the entire scheme. They lost one more game all year (5-6). Drastic times call for drastic measures. We need changes on the Hill. For starters, we need a different offensive scheme and maybe Debord can cobble that together. Scoring one TD against this team is beyond weak

A competent coach like Majors can recognize where the problems lie and fix them immediately.

Butch Jones "lucked" into John Jancek, who is not a completely terrible defensive coordinator, Steve Stripling, one of the best DL coaches in the country, and Mike Bajakian, a pretty bad OC who is still much better than Mike DeBord. Those three and Brian Kelly's recruits (namely Dan LeFevour) carried him to an 11-2 season at CMU, which he used to land the Cincinnati job.

CBJ has never experienced failure. He has no idea how to deviate from his plan, which may or may not have even worked long-term at his previous stops. It's the only thing he knows and he's not competent enough to change anything in an attempt to fix it now that it's not working.

I just want to say, I'm a Razorback fan and I understand your pain. Media tries to hype us up as similar programs. Don't put much stock in losing to a team that lost to Toledo. The Ark players haven't played well at that Little Rock stadium in years and there's rumors about them intentionally playing flat there for political reasons (not going there). Texas Tech almost beat #3TCU, and the Aggies have looked good all year and that was an OT game.

What I see right now is a Vol program who was competitive and coulda shoulda beat a Florida team who just blew out Ole Miss, who two weeks prior went in to Alabama and handled them fairly easily. So Bama blows out Georgia today, so you can see a trifecta of games where you know you're right there in the thick of it.

The wins will come. This is a very very good Vol team and very good staff. Butch Jones is the man. This staff isn't perfect and they'll make some mistakes. But they'll learn. But they are going to win and win big very soon

Nope... Not sure you do.

The fans are sick of paying A+ money for a D- product. That was horse crap. The wheels are falling off this program. The fans are apathetic Butch lost the fanbase. If he loses the team then it all goes south quickly, I know for a fact there are some voices in the locker room that are questioning this staff and each other. That happens after a loss but it has never been like this before. This is what I've heard from a trainer friend of mine just a few moments ago. This team is demoralized.

Thanks for the support, and I wish you were right. But this staff makes crucial mistakes and gets outcoached in seemingly every big game. They recruit talent but can't develop it. Their days should be numbered. Best of luck to yall the rest of this year.

I love my Vols and I bleed Tennessee Orange so I'll NEVER give up and quit on them!

All through everything else over all these years I don't think I've ever felt this bad or this hopeless, ever.

Need to fire and replace the entire admin from AD Hart all the way up.

Need the big $$$$ donors to commit to the many Millions of $$$ it's going to take to buy a great coach that's also a really great recruiter or we'll never get back out of this hole.

Yes, I said it right, we'll have to BUY a guy that's a proven good coach and a really great recruiter too.

Just exactly like alaBubba did when they bought nick saTan.

We need a solid, intelligent petition to the top guy that runs the state of Tennessee to demand that he instantly appoint a commission to hire a totally new admin for UT that understands that we expect top coaches and great teams for all sports at UT.

Then he and his daddy need to get busy and rally the big $$$$$ donors together and commit the BIG $$$ it's going to take to go out and BUY the right head coaches for every sport.

They need to understand that we've had enough and that if serious changes and the $$$ to make them happen don't come up soon that we fans will hate it but that we'll boycott every game and march at every game of every sport until the BIG changes are made.

A empty Neyland and basketball areana and fans marching in protest and K town business owners losing tons of $$$ will force the changes we demand or UT and everyone else will keep losing huge $$$.

It's time we fans demand that UT sports stop being a national joke!

VFL...GBO!!!

Last night you saw camera pan over to the fans leaving the stadium with time on the clock. Mentioning this has become a regular occurrence. We have a coaching staff that is lost. Very few people can succeed in the SEC as coaches, and CBJ is not one of them. The only way things may change is for fans to quit buying tickets. I know it's hard but hit em in the wallet and things will change.

Exactly This sure be a sure sign that this staff is in over its head and will never do anything here. Before the season, with all the hype and media, other teams fans were saying he was just talk and we needed another coach. Now that he has officially fallen flat on his face those same fans are coming back here to tell us that he is a great coach and we just need to trust the system and keep him forever.

SO unless CBJ fires Debord and a couple other by tonight, we can all just assume that nothing will ever change as long as he is coach. If thats the case then i don't see much point in caring about the games until the AD is fired and Butch goes with him.

No one should go or everyone should wear black to show the AD to put their hard earned money up where the sun doesn't shine next week.

there needs to be a performance clause in these coaches contracts. so many wins per year... SEC wins, home wins etc...

it's kind of ridiculous that they can put the kiss of death on a program and then walk away with millions in their pockets... you have to pay them to get them to go away.

imagine having to pay an employee who is grossly under performing to quit.

When an entire row is empty in the Lower Level (minus my 2 seats) that tells me all I need to know.

If this team could've won either the OU or Fla game then it's a totally different season. I think the Fla loss took a toll on the team. Hell, I know it did the fans. I can imagine what it was like for a coach or player.

The next 2 weeks we'll know for sure what we have. Either they're going to come to play or we'll see a team give up. After that, the last 5 games are very winnable, but who knows what frame of mind this team will be in by that time.

Of course opposing teams want us to keep our coach. Easy win

No one had anything to say. Ramps were completely quiet. No cussing. No we'll get em next year. Nada. Zilch. There was more joking about how crappy we are than anger. The legions of the miserable have been demoralized past grumbling.

It's over. The team played exceptional against OK and UF and those were body blows but both those teams are good. Losing to a team with less talent and who had already lost to Toledo is the true signal it's over. Not sure what analytics say about apathy but I bet it's spelled in red ink.

This is the saddest most painful observation.
Very telling
