How Would Vol Donors React?

Seems like this sort of thing should have been worked out prior to firing WillieT.

They could have held some secret meetings with the major donors to discuss their plans, but if word got out, Willie T.’s attorney would probably be drooling.

I don’t think Tennessee has ANY room to criticize other school’s coaching searches. Considering, the $hit show searches I have witnessed around here since 2008...NO ROOM for providing “expert guidance”.

IMHO

On the contrary - Tennessee fan base provided "expert guidance" template to the rest of the CF world (for free) in terms of how to correct coaching search mistake by administration. Otherwise Schiano would be here (although by now he already would have been fired).

Urban Meyer
Yea, I was strictly answering the OP as it was asked. We prolly be looking at Taggart and Phil wanting 20% more to cover his buyout, when we fire him and owe him 8-12 million. Lol.

Just curious because many have accused us of going the cheap route in coaching searches..what if Coach Fulmer Tweeted this out?

No one would have on problem with it if the end result was someone like Urban Meyer. Now if he asked for 20% more and they land someone like Norvell or some g5 coach, the place would riot

I don't care about offering 'expert guidance', or even criticizing, but I am still going to laugh loudly at FSU.

You're right, but it's still nice to see it happening to someone other than us. Hopefully we'll have some continuity for years to come.

I think we can properly mock them for begging for additional money AFTER the boosters already fronted the money to buy out Taggart. We got room!

There where plenty of us willing to add a few $$ to get a coach a few years Voluntarily giving money to your school to insure u get your guy is a totally different thing from telling the school donors " oh yeah there's a 20% increase on your annual payment" on social media

All this coaching talk....the shine has kind of come off Mike Leach for me. He had another bad year this year...obviously doesn't recruit very well either. I like the guy...a lot...but it may have been a bad hire in retrospect.

I've heard from people in the "donor community" that FSU has the same issues as UT before fulmer. A week AD and department that is beholden to other parts of the school.

We may just luck out with Pruitt. Who knows...but it amazes me that a school as rich as UT would go cheap and lower tier as far as coaches. Look what spending big on Saban did for Bama. These other schools like Bama and Georgia went big to win big. Now an argument can be made for the unsung coach to win big as well. Look at Ohio State with Ryan Day. Nobody heard of the guy.

If Fulmer asked me for a 20 percent bump in donations, I'd be inclined to suggest he give up some of that 6 million dollar buy out he collected for not coaching the Vols first.
