Georgia is losing again tonight and I suspect Richt is perhaps playing out his last year. I gather if he leaves, it helps us in Georgia. Anyone have any thoughts on how it affects us if he gets the ax?

He won't get fired this year. It will take a couple more tough years. If they do fire him, it depends who they bring in. If it's a coach with a big name, it will HURT us. If it's someone unproven, it will help us for a few years.

It will probably be good but Dooley is doing well in GA now and it might hurt and bring a new energy for Georgia if they make the right hire........

richt leaving is premature right now, but will be a bad thing. He is one of the few coaches that we have an "advantage" on. If he leaves, they will get Kirby Smart or Will Muschamp - or somebody better. Georgia will not struggle in a coaching search the way we did.

It would not be good because UGA would probably hire a competent coach to replace Richt.

Richt has been at Georgia for a while and his team is playing like crap. He has no excuse. At least we have ALOT of young guys.

As it was good to our competition for Foolmer to walk the sidelines it is good for us that Richt is at Georgia. Called my bud again in Athens friday just to ask if they recognize yet that Fulmer is walking their sidelines. Do you believe they don't know this????

We have said for several years now that Richt is Fulmer 2.0, Georgia will be saying the same thing about someone in a few years.

Don't forget that UGA has new AD. I don't care what he's saying publicly now, he could decide to hire someone he can call his guy.

Why? Why do you think we struggled while they won't. It's equal job-wise in as far as tradition & level.

I agree.

If he stays, it will be good for us.

If they replace him with someone well known and good, it will hurt us.

If they replace him with a no-name or a retread, it will help us.

I don't think he'll get fired this year. His worst season win total is 8. It will take a few bad seasons to get him out of there. That being said, UGA does look terrible this year. Richt will be under some MAJOR pressure next year. Looks like the Todd Grantham hire wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

As stated above, it's better if Richt stays another year or two. UT is gaining ground in the state of GA and will continue to do so if the Bulldogs further slide into mediocrity.

UGA is stocked with talent and has plenty of depth, and their recovery period would not be as long if they fired Richt at the end of this season. Seems like the prevailing guess is that Muschamp would get the nod if Richt is terminated soon. IIRC, this was the one position he was very interested in despite the guaranteed future in TX.

Muschamp would be a good fit for UGA. I'd be upset if he went there, since he gave us no love.

Actually I do not see Muschamp leaving for UGA but I think the 2 front runners would be him or K Smart and I really do not want to see him leave UA. But my understanding the reason he turned down the UGA DC job last year is because many believe if CMR was fired he would get the job and if he was already there probably be pushed out with CMR. Makes sense because it seems that CNS no longer has K Smart doing any recruiting for us. So he is not building any relationships on the recruiting trail at the moment that would hurt us if he did leave.

But there is one big problem for UGA to get rid of CMR this year and that is he would receive a 8 million dollar buyout. Next year it is not as big so I thing he gets one more year no matter what which will help UT and UA recruiting players in GA.

UT is poised to take some great recruits from that state. Richt is on the hot seat. He'll get the hall pass for the year, but will be gonzo after next season. There will be a feeding frenzy for the talent in GA.

IMO, I think it will be Muschamp. Isn't UGA his alma mater? Didn't he play DB for UGA? The amount of $ UGA could potentially throw in his face could be quite persuasive, which would be bad for UT. We could dominate GA in recruiting this next off-season, but if Muschamp got established, forget it.

It's best for Richt to stay because he can't coach. 1-4, beat very comfortably by Mississippi State, have yet to play Florida (a big rival), and they probably won't beat Auburn. If they lose to UT and GT, they could go 5-7. If that happens, Richt is gone.

EDIT: He will probably be gone after this year, during or after next season. He has a $8 million buy-out on his contract. UGA would be kinda crazy to be that adament about getting rid of him this year.
