How will you feel if we lost one or two more games?

Is 5-5 acceptable for this year? Did you expect us to actually do better given the circumstances?
In order of difficulty:
Florida - even at home in possible cold weather in December will be a tough game, can we stop the TE? Its not impossible task for UT but we need to play our best game of the season
Texas A&M - Honestly, A&M is hot and cold, depends on what Aggie team and what Vol team show up
@ Auburn - Could win, could lose, again a toss up....i think the QB and defense need to play as we did down there last time to win
@ Arkansas - Worried about this one just because Arky is playing ok, and that's a LOOONG road trip and they will be ready
@ Vanderbilt - We will crush Vandy no worries here, I am more worried they will forfeit the rest of the season due to "COVID issues" just to save money

I don't really care for the final number this season as long as we see a method to the madness. If adjustments start being made to prepare for the '21 season, for example Bailey getting numerous starts, then I will be OK. If we keep repeating the same mistakes and losing I will be frustrated to say the least.

If we lose at Arkansas we are looking like a 3 & 7 final record. Got to win this road game a 4 game losing streak may get in the head of the players. This is why I always liked our November schedules played a lot of teams that had lost enough that some of players were going thru thx for the scholly motions. UK, Vandy USCe & OOC.

To me, it is a matter of what games did you lose AND how did you lose them? Those are the questions that determine my reaction.

Well said. If we install an new QB and the offense shows improvement each game and no more blowouts then 5-5 might be promising.

Yes. This team has a much better roster than UK.

And at some point... a coach has to prove he can compete. USCe, MU, UK, VU, and Ark were "should wins". The measure of progress should have come down to sniping 2 or even 3 of the others.

If you mean COVID when you say circumstances, it should be pointed out that every team and coach in NCAA has had to deal with the same thing. That is not a valid excuse for $#|++y play!

5-5 should have been the floor for this team. The very least it should have done. Now it looks like the ceiling but we will see.

We had 5 teams we were clearly better than on the schedule to start the year. 3 teams we have roughly equal talent with in Auburn, A&M, and Florida, and two we were still behind in Alabama and Georgia. Losing to a clearly inferior team and how we've looked doing it makes it appear we are off the rails. Losing to a clearly inferior Arkansas team would send this season into the awful category. At this point Auburn has also looked awful and should have two more losses had refs not been complete failures.

No it is not acceptable when you lose to Kentucky at home for the first time in 36 years. No matter what happens this year it is failure with the type of “talent” we have this year. We have 4-5* star and 1-4* starting on the OLine and Mays and Smith supposed to be first round draft picks but yet we have gotten dominated up front the last 3 games.
if we learned anything from Ga State is those stars mean absolutely nothing. U still gotta lace 'em up. KY beat our a$$ bc we didnt respect our opponent. Uga & bama were always going to beat us like an ugly stepchild with our recent QB play no matter who the Qb was or wasnt. I find myself watching random teams like UCF & think to myself, "how in the hell did they get a first year starter who wasnt highly ranked to throw 10 Td's in his last 2 games, with 1000 yards passing, and pretty much command their system like a 5th yr season smfh."Before anyone brings up his competition i just want to point out that we didnt throw 5 TD's against our inferior opponents. I wont even make it about JG. We have lacked a real captain of the ship (QB) since Dobbs graduated.

They can' even make adjustments from the 1st half going into the 2nd half of a game, what's this talk of adjustments for the '21 season?

How would 5-5 not show regression from 5-3 last year? It’s 2 more losses. I just don’t get the lack of brain power exhibited in here some times

You just exhibited an enormous lack of "brain power". Astounding. Love the juicy irony though.

If one of those wins is against UF and it costs them a trip to ATL, then I'd be somewhat pacified going into the offseason but I would not be able to forget that in year three our head coach continued to lose games he shouldn't.

You know, I am asking some of the same questions. These lesser pedigreed teams bring out the gunslingers and runners, yet we seem to be stuck in the mud. And we have people saying we don't have the talent on the bench to come in and do something great! What! Why not?

Anything short of winning out will be a severe disappointment. Can't get blown out three games in a row, especially one of them being Kentucky, and then everything be fine without some exceptional result to follow. This is the third year for Pruitt, he needs to prove that the SEC isn't too tough for him to compete.

The Arkansas game is huge imo. If we lose that one, that shows they are ahead of us in rebuild which there is no reason why they should be. I would also think a victory over a Top 10 aTM would repair a lot of damage. Beat auburn and vandy. Florida game either needs to be a win or go down to the wire with a close loss.

7-3 would be crazy hype heading into 2021.
6-4 would be good.
5-5 I’m ok with considering how we’ve looked the past 3 games (close losses to aTm and Florida).

Anything less is quite alarming even during the middle of a pandemic.

I think 5-5 is best case scenario. Team has too many holes to fill and not enough answers.. It's not what you wanted but not the end of the world. Pruitt would probably keep most of this class intact and we'd be on to another year. If they don't get another QB some playing time next year could be another ugly deal. Need DL, LB, QB, RB, TE answers and don't have them right now. That's a lot to find in a year's time.

5-5 is never acceptable and I can see us losing some more unless the Vols get things turned around during the bye week. As if this year could get any more ...... up.
