Originally from Harrisburg, PA. Dad took a job in Knoxville in '99 n commuted back n forth from TN n PA for a year. Ive always hated PSU n PITT. He told me how crazy the town is for the Vols n how the whole town wears orange on fridays for work n thought that was pretty cool. Then brought home an orange Jamal Lewis jersey n havent missed a game since..

Being the holidays Im thankful for being a Vols fan! GBO!

Uncle took me to my first game at age three all the way from columbia SC.. Loved the Vols ever since. No one in their right mind could go to Neyland and not fall in love with the big orange:rock:

I was born a Volunteer, but did not realize those strange Orange urges I felt in increasing intensity until my first home game as a freshman in 1981. A Colorado State blowout to take the Vols to 1-2.

I was a VFL from that moment on!

Grew up in the 80's watching UT. There is something about growing up in east tennessee that grabs hold of you as a child, and that something is the Big Orange. That is the best way i can explain it.:loco:

Being from Indiana. It all started as a youngster in the mid 70's watching Bill Dance with his Big Orange T hat. Loved college football in a basketball state. UT tradition Plus loving Orange as favorite color it has stuck. Hoosier by birth. UT volunteer for life.
Oh yea Rocky Top best song ever!!

I live in Nashville and all of my family; with the exception of my son, are "O Bama" fans. I had that garbage shoved down my throat from an early age, so I decided that the one thing in life that I didn't want to be was an "O Bama" fan.
In 1977, I moved to Knoxville to go to a boarding school and on Saturday's I could hear the Big Orange on the radio. I stayed in Knoxville until 1982. In those 5 years, I became hooked on the Big Orange.
End of story!!!!!!

When I was living in Ohio at age 5 or 6, my Dad was watching a bowl game that involved Heath Shuler. I told him he was watching my favorite team because they were orange and orange was my favorite color.

We moved to Johnson City the next year. You can imagine how things developed.

My grandfather grew up in Maryville, my dad was raised in Oliver Springs, as was I. My dad has seen/heard 63 years of Tennessee football with my grandfather every Saturday and it was my favorite tradition growing up as well. I now have a son on the way and even though I live on the West Coast, we will carry on that tradition. Go Vols!

I'm a 3rd generation Volunteer. My grandmother moved from Sneedville to south knoxville to raise my dad and uncle in the early 50's. Before long she began working for the University and they both fell in love with TN. The rest is history. I've never known anything else but to love the Vols and have attended almost every home game since my brother went to UT as a freshman in 1998. My family has had the same season tickets for almost 40yrs now. Me, my brother, and 5/6 of my cousins got our degrees from UT. I live in an all-Vol family and my 2 nephews and cousins 3
children are being raised right as well, all-
Vol.

I became a fan after the GA game on Oct. 8, of this year. The Vols lost and Bray injured his hand, but I had such a good time in Knoxville. I had always held an attraction towards the orange and white, especially the endzone, but it's hard to say that when you are from Georgia and both my dad and sister are Dawg fans. I have since been to the LSU, USCjr., and Vandy games, respectively. The Vandy game has so far been my best experience. I want to go to grad school at UT one day because I had an awesome professor who graduated from there and he is also a huge fan. Right now it is my goal to get a job there first, and then attend. My mom is from Memphis, so it isn't completely random, but I had to gradually sink into it so as to not give my dad a heart attack. :) I definitely get an interesting response when I tell people at the games that I am from Georgia. I plan on spending the next year catching up on UT history and returning next season full-fledged. I also plan on rewarding myself here on VN with a power T icon for my favorite team. You gotta earn it IMO. Thanks for starting this thread, BTW. I was going to but I wasn't sure if it had been done.

I remember being only 5 years old and watching the Johnny Majors show after Tennessee had played Auburn in 1989. That's it.
