on the Ole Miss campus. I spent the night outside of Oxford Friday night with a friend that lives there. He, my grandson and I got up at 6:00, went to eat breakfast in town and got to the stadium at 7:00. As I approached Vaught Hemingway stadium a guy yelled across the street if we needed tickets (I didn't have any) and I said yeah. He had two tickets in section H (10 yard line on the Ole Miss side) row 22, seats 8 and 9 he sold us for face value. Went to the grove and met up with some guys I know in Memphis and saw a customer (who owns a liquor store) two tents away. :) Free food and beverages flowed all morning. Went to the game, which sucked out loud, had two sets of people ask me to take pictures of them with their cameras and enjoyed the atmosphere. Of course the hotty toddy crap got old after a while but that's their place and their tradition so what can ya say. After the game more food and drinks. Other than the game a good time was had by all.

Nice folks. Never heard a single bad word uttered about Tennessee. Although every Ole Miss fan I heard was cussing LSU before, during, and after the game.:)

As great as the gameday experience is at UTK, I can't imagine a better atmosphere anywhere in all of college football. Classy fans, gorgeous campus, I thought everything about Ole Miss was awesome, except the game it's self of course.

That place was awesome. We got up early in Tunica from a night of Blackjack and started on Gentlemen Jack/Crown for breakfast. We got down there around 9 I think lol. We partied in the Grove with great food and drinks. The fans were simply awesome and the girls were smoking hot. Getting into the stadium was a breeze and people were courteous and classy. We continued drinking whiskey during that terrible game. We went to another spot in the Grove afterwards and were treated the same with free beer all afternoon & night. Then a lady took us to their house and were so cordial. More free beers. Then a couple of the girls took us to the Square where we ate and drank more at Roosters. The filet was pretty good. The owner was kind enough to have another employee drive us back to Tunica on their dime and time. First class all the way. We made some great friends and I can't wait to go back again. Did I mention the women????? LOL.

I have to say that the Ole Miss fans were great. I got an invite to see the game with some Ole Miss fans Thursday night and of course I couldn't turn it down. I have to say that the fans I ran across were so courteous. Most of them thought UT would beat the pants off of them and when we didn't they were as cordial as you could any fans you could imagine to an opposing fan who had just lost. I tip my hat to the Ole Miss fans. They are some of the best in the SEC.

The scenery in the grove was amazing---the quality of the chicks at Ole Miss may be the best in the SEC. Very hot.

We had another wonderful experience in Oxford and were treated very well. The only person that acted remotely rude to us was actually a Florida fan (dressed in red and blue as his son attends Ole Miss).

Perfect weather, great friends, great meal at Prime. . . .and a terrible game!

A little follow up on my last post. For any of you who have heard about "the Grove" but have never been, it is every bit as awesome as described. They don't really "tail gait" per se. Some OM fans we hung out with called it "groving," not sure if they all do or not. In the Grove pretty much every square inch of realestate is under someone's tent. Many of these tents are decorated like there is about to be a wedding held there; elaborate flower arrangements, candles and even glass chandoliers. It is incredible the effort many of these folks put in, I assume, every home game. The Grove, actually the whole campus in general, is absolutely beautiful.

I had a great time in the grove. There was a group of 8 of us and we we're invited to their food and alcohol. Ole Miss fans were very cordial. The only problem was getting into the stadium. Gate 12, where the visitor section entered, had a ridiculous line to get in. Very unorganized. Probably didn't help that there were about 10-12 thousand Vol fans. All in all great trip.

My wife and I went and had a great time. My niece goes to school there, so we hung out with my sister and brother-in-law in the Circle which is above the Grove. Exact same thing though. Everyone was great there. We even got a couple of very healthy Jack pours from some Ole Miss fans. The bottle actually had a Power T on it too. Maybe they knew we'd need it after the game. Only good part of the game: my niece is sitting with us (she was hardcore UT before going to Ole Miss). She slapped her mom on the hand for clapping during positive UT plays. Then we catch her singing Rocky Top later in the game. She didn't even realize it. We called her on it, and she says "So what. It's a catchy song. I can't help it." Still love her even if she's a traitor.

Apparently I bought some tickets from a scalper that belonged to some former football player. My girlfriend and I sat down in a section that was full of long time big money fans and the seats had the cushion backs on them. We were rudely asked by one guy "how the hell we got our seats?" and I proudly presented the stubs and informed him I bought them off the street. This obviously pissed him and many others off because they were given as a gift by this former player to Ole Miss fans who apparently sold them.
After a few minutes a lady kindly tapped me on the shoulder and said that the section was full of former players and she had some season tickets that we were welcome to use in better seats if we wanted to move. She said that everyone took Ole Miss football very seriously in that section and we would probably have a better time if we moved because the other seats were closer to the TN section. She was actually very nice and let me look at the seats before I decided to move there.
It was probably a good thing I did move because there was a good chance I would have tried to fight the pricks around me if I had stayed in those seats for the actual game....

Frat houses were AMAZING Friday night, especially Sigma Nu (I'm sorry I love UT but its Greek life blows in comparison). Tons of food at the Grove. Game SUCKED and a few people in the Ole Miss student section were being *******s. That being said, I was wearing orange and a lil drunk... and cheering... loudly...

Has a brand new house coming at UT as well.

I left Fayette County around 6:30 and traffic wasn't too bad. I have been to Vaught-Hemingway many times, just never to see the Vols play. The Grove was great, scenery was great, basically everything was great except the game. The bleachers kind of sucked as anyone who spilled a drink gave a nice shower to those below. Makes you really miss Neyland. I have never sat that close to Neyland's new videoboard but VH's didn't look very crisp like Neyland's. First time I have been to VH since they put that up.

I had a good time down there, just came in a couple hours before the game and went home pretty much right afterwards but everybody seemed pretty cool.

Best time I have ever had at a road game, period. We had our six year old daughter with us, decked out in her cheerleading uniform, and the Ole Miss fans were all over her (in a good way), making a real fuss. I kept telling my husband (a yankee and Big Ten (11?) fan) that this was southern football the way it used to be everywhere.

By the way, this is the only stadium I have ever seen where they had sweet tea at the concession stand!

Sadly I was in Tuscaloosa playing club volleyball. So I will answer the question but with Bama as my topic campus. I wasnt blown away, even though I do think its nice. I think MTSU actually has a nicer rec center than Bama. A few less basketball courts and we dont have a smoothie king but ours is nicer over all, i think.
