Forget the last play, should have never come to that. Three simple things, basic things, that would have left us ahead with 6 seconds, not behind.

- Don't give the guy throwing a 60' prayer up to end the half an opportunity to create contact and get a foul called. +2
- Hit at least 60% of our free throws. +5 (I think)
- Make your largely uncontested shots from 4' in. +4 ( James & Chandler)

Do these basic things and the game never gets out of hand and the good guys win. That's what I want from this team. Do the basic offensive things well, nothing more, and suddenly we are a 2 loss team and in the top 8.

For those of you who have never played basketball as an organized sport: You don’t run a final play called, “Dribble down and throw it to Josiah for three”. ZZ had options: 1 Drive ( it wasn’t there) 2 Hit SV in the corner or breaking to drive ( it became open, but too late) 3 Hit JJ who will find space. The play also had ON at the scorer’s table who was supposed to call timeout if we made it across half court with three or more in the lane. He called timeout. No one saw him. ZZ hit the open shooter. Just like he’s supposed to.

Yes, these things would have made a difference last night, but the root of the problem is way beyond these examples.

To be fair, we do not match up with big athletic guards on teams that play great defense. We have no athletes inside, and teams with big guards take away SV and Chandler shooting threes. That isn’t going to change. How we do in the tournament is going to be entirely based on our draw, and the low possibility of Full re-emerging as a shooter.

It was a good play just don't agree with the player who took the last shot. Also I'm not going to let a defense force me into shooting a 3 down 1 and as a team we can't shoot. I would rather be aggressive going towards the basket. Being aggressive gives you two opportunities score or get foul. Instead we settled for a terrible shooter to Jack up a 3 only down 1

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Seems like the rhythm and reason of the last 3-4 Big12-SEC Challenges is to play at home. Look at the records, usually the home team wins. Kentucky was the only team to win on the road yesterday.

So if Tennessee had played in Knoxville, we would have likely won yesterday.

You should apply for the coaching position when Barnes leaves.

Or be aggressive going towards the basket, drive too deep, get the shot blocked. Then we could all b!@@# about JJJ being wide open and why we didn't hit him for the winning shot. I mean after all he was 50% for the game prior to the last shot.

About a guarantee that Zig would have been fouled but being he is as short compared to the others, there would not have been a foul called. They didnt call it all night. As far as James shooting it, he was the most open at the time, thus the shot. It is what it is. Oh to hear those that have slandered Josiah if he would have made the shot. He would have been hailed as the greatest clutch shooter of all time.

You are right. Texas basically guaranteed that we weren't going to beat them at the rim with the way they defended the play. He would have been forced to either initiate the contact or charge (neither of which is good) or shoot a floater over much taller players. He did the only reasonable thing he could.

It’s really not - we as fans simply want to overthink it all IMO. Make free throws. Make layups. Eliminate stupid fouls. These 3 alone would move this team higher

Well, UT might have a chance to win over A&M if they can hit their shots. Aggies started off well but have been struggling the past few games, especially last night. Who knows...

Yeah, I watched that Kentucky game they were shooting about as they did vs us up in Lexington. If they're on they could win it all. I think Calipari has finally found a formula cherry-pick best seasoned portal players off high mid-majors add a couple one and done's to go along with a few carry-over players. That was impressive blowing out Kansas on their floor.

We need to speed the game up. Our half court offense is abysmal at best. Press more and score in transition... IF we have a player with enough balls to ATTACK the rim. KC can get to the rim, but he isnt particularly strong doing so. JJJ coud certainly do it, but he's way too passive. I think we may simply be out of options.

I hate to say it but Kentucky really impressed me yesterday. They play like that in March and they could be cutting down the nets.

I'm not a coach but JJ isn't taking the last shot to win a game for me. Also down 1 point the last thing I want to see is a 3 point shot I don't care if you're open or not. Just my opinion

I get it. But in the new basketball, James probably hasn't taken five 16-20' shots in his 3 year practice career. He'd be benched for taking one in a game.

It's the new GMO version of predictable basketball. 22'+ shot or layup/dunk ... nobody has skills for anything else.
