How upset will you be if we lose to WV?

If we lose, for me it depends on how we play. Is it a close game until the end or is it an embarrassing blow out?

I don't know about y'all but noting ticks me off more than watching us getting blown out (happened a lot recently too). I don't think any result, win or loss, will tell us too much about our team in 2018 or how Pruitt will be as a HC though.

I'll be upset. Not because I don't understand where the program is and the reality of a loss. But because it will be my first game I've gotten to attend since 2004 (since I live in Charlotte) and I want a "W."

Extremely disappointed?

Understanding it’s part of the rebuilding process?

Wanting to fire Pruitt? (Blue font)

I’ll only be disappointed if we get blown out and don’t put up much of an effort.

No more so than when we lose to any other team we should beat. Beginning to get used to it after the last 10-12 years or so.

A little off topic but how can I get tickets to the game

it's sold out. you're either scalping or buying off stub hub or whatever.

me, i'm hoping a buddy comes thru with some club level tix...if not, i'll probably scalp.

conventional wisdom agrees with this.

the good news is WVU isn't a great defensive team.

the bad news is they should be pretty damn good offensively.

and we have no idea what we're gonna look like either way.

i look for a fairly high scoring affair, WVU probably wins by somewhere between 8-10 pts.

and they'll have fans in Charlotte. big orange nation needs to show up.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner for best way to early prediction.

Thats an understatement, theyre going to have one of the best offenses in the country.

Tennessee on the other hand will be playing their first game with a new head coach with a completely new defensive system

To expect a win is insane.

And an assist for griffdog14.

Why West Virginia could have college football's top offense in 2018 - Jake Trotter ESPN

I'm not drinking the KoolAid yet though. Our offense was pretty good last year and yet we had way too many 3 and outs. Our OLine also failed to open holes for our RBS at times.

Let's say I'm cautiously optimistic.

you should be. i'd be wary of the defense, and primarily why WVU may not be a true championship contender. but when you play them, i'd imagine you're gonna have to score some points.

i think for us, it's hard to really match this game up since we just don't have a lot of knowns right now.

and if i was going to cling to anything as a reason to have some hope, it's that....as much as we don't know what we're going to look like...neither will you.:)

hoping you guys take us for granted, and we smack you in the mouth.:eek:lol:

pissed we should not lose to west virginia. we owe steriod grier a beating. a loss will tell us what kind of coach pruitt is. we should never tolerate a coach that can't win out of conference games against mediocre opponets. especially when you have almost 9 months to prepare. a loss means we have some coaching issues first year coach or not.

Utterly ridiculous.

Not sure, but wouldn't you be "getting scalped" by the "scalper" (the guy WITH the tickets).

I think this will be a good game. WV has some offensive firepower and their D was about as bad as ours was last season...both of our schemes are new with a totally new staff and a HC coaching his FIRST EVER game at any level...

Talent wise, I don't see a major seperation on either side. I could be wrong, but I don't foresee us being outcoached, however, there are so many intangibles in getting a win against a good team....turnovers, injuries, etc...

I won't be disappointed with a loss barring total ineptness, but I will be very encouraged with a win...

Not gonna be upset, cause we aint gonna loose. We will play rockem sockem possession football in this one. Strength and blitz packages will carry our D to a good win. Our offense will be a heavy dose of run and some big shots down the field. They will not be able to handle our running game! Size matters!

Won't look good on Pruitt if we do.

Spare me the "coming off the worst season blah blah blah".

I'm upset with any lost our team endures. But right now not morbidly so. I recognize our administration and poor hiring decisions dragged the Vols down into a cesspool then abandoned it at the bottom of a well-used outhouse. I think it will be about 2 more years before we're back to winning consistently if Pruitt's the man. If not, another 5 years assuming Fulmer will then hire a quality coach.

Now, I don't know if we beat WVA or not. However, just seeing the physical transformation of our players thusfar, I think Pruitt is literally building a for real SEC team. Win or lose, WVA will know they were in a game and we'll know our team is competitive. Under such circumstances, a lost will hurt more (Oklahoma game type pain) but we'll end up looking forward to an exciting season and enjoying the ride.

WVU is going to start the 2018 season as a Top 15 team and likely end it as one of the top offenses in the country.

I'd love a Vols win but a loss to the Mountaineers this year is nothing to be surprised about nor would I see a loss as a reflection of Pruitt's inability to coach our program.

I sense that our fan base is giving Pruitt a shorter leash than Butch and Dooley. The man hasn't even coached his first game and a poll is out on how mad the fan base will be if we get beat by an early prediction preseason top 10 team. Currie is right. Our fan base is whack! Flame away! I wont respond.
