How to tell people your political views have changed?

So my Birthday is August 6th and so far my Wife, Mother, and Best Friend have asked what I was going to do. I explained that I would probably just celebrate it on the 7th, because on the 6th I really wanted to watch the GOP debates. They thought I was joking because I have normally backed Democrats. I am turning 31 and my views have evolved over the last 3 years or so. I am recently married (to a medical student :rock:) and I am scared of the America that my kids will grow up in if the Dems keep running this country.

Problem is my Wife, Mom, and Best Friend think Republicans are crooks and don't understand why I don't see things the way they do now.

Any advice?

I married a democrat. Just agree to disagree and stay true to what YOU believe

You are both right. Republicans are crooks and the Democrats will drive this country to hell by breaking up traditional families and their other social engineering experiments.

They'll love you anyway. I have family that gets mad at me for being independent, but they get over it.

I couldn't ever do that. It's already bad enough listening to their emotions then you toss in modern liberalism? No thanks!

Don't bring it up, you're wife will come around and follow your lead eventually. As for friends, find smarter ones.

Skip the debates. Have a B-day bash. Tell your mom you love her. Tell your friend you appreciate him. Tell your wife she's beautiful.

America's problems will be there for you for many years to come.

Skip debates. I am a Republican and I can tell you how its going to go:

Jesus, federal employee hate, Jesus, Border fence, Jesus, Gay wedding cakes, Jesus, bring jobs back to America no one wants, Jesus, and lots of that stupid Clinton thumb (thumb on fist) gesture..

When your wife gets a full dose of Obamacare or gets in a practice where she is a shareholder, she will wake up fast. When she sees you were right all along, your esteem will rise in her eyes and you wont be punchin above your weight class. :)

The only reason 80 % of the people who are going to watch the debates are doing so is to watch the train wreck as the folks on the margin try to out-outrageous Trump, while the non-loons try to calm everyone down so that the candidates can discuss actual issues and realistic solutions, not more nutball idiocy.

Fat chance.

Meh, she's not a hard core. Her parents are liberally loons but she's become much more conservative since we've been together.

I recommend a mix of Huff's and McDad's advice. No need to be party centric. Focus on issues and principles. Both sides will disappoint you.
