Son swam across a creek with his. Came home thinking it would dry out and work the next day. After a week it still wouldn't work. I picked it up and the conversation went like this:

Son: Don't bother, it's toast.
Me: I just wanna look at it.
Son: I've done everything I can think of to it. It's trash.
Me: Did you think your backpack was waterproof?
Son: Whatever.
~find a little button on the back, push it, hit power, phone turns on~
Son: WHAT DID YOU DO????
~hand the phone to him rolling my eyes~
Me: You can give your mom credit now and then ya know?
~walk off thinking WHAT DID I DO????~

Anyone know if the rice trick works?

It can't hurt. Anything to soak up moisture helps. As long as you got the power turned off before anything shorted out, and as long as you give it ample time to dry, I imagine most phones that were submerged will still work.

Mine was soaking in the bottom of my hot tub for 3 days at 104 degrees till I found it. Took it apart let it air dry for 2 weeks, after I already got a new one. After 2 weeks I put battery back in and it worked like a champ. Step punk got tossed in a pool with his in pocket, phone was fk'd up immediatly. So who knows.

I worked for a cell phone company for 3 months, it was enough time for me to realize that: 1) customer service reps deal with a lot of crap they shouldn't have to (in fairness to anyone that has dealt with a stupid one, I am not defending that percentage of their ranks) and 2) outside of customer service, cell phone companies are made up almost exclusively of the scum of the earth. You nailed it, they are definitely crooks.

I dropped my Tilt in my pool about a month ago. After drying it in the sun all day it worked fine. I took the opportunity and got an iPhone. Should've dropped the tilt earlier. LOL

Most of my day consisted of fixing crap that stores/reps screwed up, trying not to vomit after meeting with my nasty ass heifer of a supervisor, attempting to get the hot little assistant director in my line of sight, and trying to tightrope the HR line.

But, you gotta admit, that company is evil as hell.

Be careful.. I'm still getting income from them.
