How To Beat UF

Sure he does.....everybody has a great offensive mind when u have carson palmer...reggie bush...mike williams..dwayne jarrett...matt leinart....lendale white. The fact is lane kiffin is mike shula. Inept, moron, retard, in-over-his-head idiot. The next 5 years will be suffering. Prepare yourselves:rock2:

Wow! you can see into the future "almighty king of the toothless wonders". If I were you I wouldn't have so much faith in magic 8 balls, they can be deceiving, like the one that said you would kill Utah last year.

So basically you are saying Kiffin only looked good because of good recruiting.
I could say the same for Bama or Florida.
Not the greatest of arguments.
Plus Kiffin pulled out a top 10 recuirting class that included the top prospect. I think he is to a very good start and can't really be judged as critically until he gets a couple of years of his players in.
Do I EXPECT to beat florida or bama? Not really. Do I EXPECT it to be a good game and more of a toss up than prior years? HELL YES

Also for the record we don't mind other fans in the boards as long as you don't outright insult us, the players, and the coaches. If you could stop your recent trend of doing this youd be a whole lot more welcome.

To attempt to get back on topic, here are two things that can greatly help in September.

1) Limit UF's offensive plays. This means playing it fairly conservatively when UT is on offense. Ideally, it means eating as much clock by simply wasting time as possible....let the play clock run down inside 5 every single time on offense to cut down on UF's plays when they have the ball (and possibly cut out a possession or two in the process)

2) Devise as bizarre of a defense as possible that can be installed and dismantled in one week. UF is still an option offense at its heart, so finding ways to screw with the automatic adjustments via movement is vital. It requires maximum conditioning on the part of the UT defense to rotate and shift multiple times before the snap every single play.

You have yet to provide any useful information as to why you think we are going to be "suffering" the next 5 years

The only way to beat Florida is to win the battle at the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Contrary to popular opinion, Florida is a tough, hard nosed, physical football team that hits you in the face on defense and controls the LOS on offense with big mean offensive linemen.

UF doesn't get nearly enough credit for their toughness, especially late in games, under Urban Meyer.

In order for UT to win, they have to follow the same recipe that has won games for UT vs UF before. Win the battles on the LOS. Both sides, and have more success rushing the football.

I don't remember the stat, but under Urban Meyer, UF has outrushed like, 46 of their opponents and won 44 of those games. In the 7 games they got outrushed, they lost every time I believe.

Ole Miss was the only team to outrush Florida in 2008.

I don't think UT has the ability to do that this year.

Thank Christ someone's not drunk off the Kool-Aid.

The stat for the UT-UF that has ALWAYS held true (for the most part, I believe), even for the Spurrier days, was which team would outrush the other, with the W usually going to said team. Every other tired cliche remark (TO battle, OL/DL, controlling the clock, limiting big plays) are just that -- tired.

All those "tired cliches" you mentioned tie into outrushing the opponent.

You win the LOS, you win the game. If you are outrushing your opponent, your DL is beating the OL.

If your running game is better than the opponent's, your OL is beating the DL.

LOS is dead on, if those guys are getting beaten, everyone is getting beaten, and it sets the tempo and mind set for the whole game. The guys just need to believe they can hang, and play fundamental ball. Sure the Game Maxims are a little outdated maybe, but there's a whole lot of truth in there. Neyland didn't get where he did by coaching sloppy teams, and like it or not, we've seen our share of sloppy teams on the Hill lately. That said, I think Lane has a disciplined team coming up and from the O&W it looked like they needed no motivation. We have a shot at UF because nobody outside the Vol state thinks we can do it, and to that we must say GO DAMN VOLS!!:number1:

Sorry for the rant.. I've seen that like 5 times today from different peoples...

1. Win line of scrimmage..
2. Keep Tebow and speedsters in check
3. Progressively move the ball on the ground .
