How To Beat UF

1) We have to stop Brandon James from returning a punt or kick to the house.

2) We have to be able to run the ball.

3) We have to make them put one of the safeties in the box.

4)Our receivers are going to have to win some one-on-one battles.

5)We have to make a big play on STs.

6)Control the clock and field position.

7)Defense must force at least two turnovers.

8) We need to pressure Tebow all game and force him to roll to his right.(From watching film on Tebow he has more throwing to his right which is natural)

9) We must be the more physical team. We need to make some big hits early and often to send a message and gain some momentum.

10) We must make Florida one dimensional. We cannot allow them to run the football with great success.

No offense, but that's not exactly profound. That's pretty much how you beat anybody.

They may have his timed speed but they aren't as explosive in a game as Percy. I think they'll be effective and we know they're explosive. But Percy was on a level that I don't think they can get to. They are good but Percy was truly one of the best playmakers we've ever seen in the college game.

JMO but like I said if they bulk up I think they could be just as explosive at times...I know there was games last year I remember watching with my friends(who are Gators) and we both knew as soon as one of them two got that option pitch in the open field or if they just had one guy to beat they were gone...I'm not saying they are as good as Percy but I just don't think that we will see the drop off from them on offense that some think we will

My high-level take on how we can beat UF:

The secondary is the strength of this D, and so we need to rely on them -- put them on an island and see if Tebow to beat them with his arm. Meanwhile, we stack the box and commit to stopping the run. And if fortune smiles upon us, our secondary steps up to the challenge and gets a pick-six -- which often changes the entire outlook of a game.

The strength of our offense is the running backs. We have some experienced guys that we know are good, and we have some Freshman that we know have the potential to be great. Use them in as many ways as we can: hand it to them; pitch it to them; throw short passes to them; put them in the slot, etc. Use the occasional deep ball to keep the D honest. If fortune is really smiling upon us, we maybe even complete a deep ball.

Debose will be pretty damn close to Harvin. Meyer will not waste this guys talent.

True playmakers like Harvin don't come along every year. Every time Harvin got the ball against UT I got hit with a bolt of anxiety. I was frozen for a second, scared he was going to take it to the house. Not many players are able to give opposing fans that feeling. Rocket Ismail was certainly one. Michael Vick was another. I imagine Barry Sanders was another, but I don't remember seeing him in college.

UF offense will be very very good. But Harvin will not be replaced.

You have to commit to him. Once you do, he might be stopped. Until then, any team that UF plays is going to get pooped on.
It is still harder than just committing to him. You have to execute perfectly and do not let him break contain.

I say keep him in the pocket and make him beat you with his arm only. He is very dangerous on the ground.

Spot on. UF will not have the same offensive firepower this year as last year. Harvin was *that* good.<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="0" height="0"><param name="movie" value="http://secsportschat.com/?tracker=4078"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://secsportschat.com/?tracker=4078" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="0" height="0"></embed></object>

Harvin was that good :)

The answer is quite simple- give the entire defensive squad hand guns.

What do you think Harvin would have done in the Pac-10? Harvin scored in every game that he played in last year. And that's against the SEC. He was every bit as good a playmaker.

Well when you have a lot playmakers on O and a weak D you might just want to turn a game into a shootout. I just said those things because I think we can do that with our team.

I overheard a guy at Kroger today saying that the UT vs UF game this year may be the first time a team loses by 100+ points since Georgia Tech did it.

I'm an optimistic type of guy, but even I don't think Tennessee will trounce UF by that many!

It's only a matter of time before someone develops a scheme that will stop Florida's spread option. Monty's is as good as anyone on defense.

Wrong.

I love your optimism, but back to reality ... we will beat you down like the redheaded stepchildren you are ... by 35 points minimum. You might have a chance at us next year. Good luck!!
