Do you stack the box and make Te bow through or play off him and assign a spy? How would you handle playing D with TT being so mobile? I like the way Georgia did it by attacking him every play no matter what.
I agree with this post but would add to it utilize a 5 man d line on 2nd down and blitz the weak side safety only. That safety would almost always be blitzing in the direction of the roll out of the QB...then on 3rd down play a base 4-3 d and occasionally blitz the weak side cornerback, with the safety dropping down on the WR.The Prowler isn't effective against a good running threat, and won't work against this year's gators. Teblow would get 5 yards a pop if the d linemen aren't in a 3 or 4 point stance... because if not down low they'll get blown back... the reason it worked in the swamp in '01 is because florida wasn't a good running team.... we didn't have to respect their run, it was just open season on their QB all day. Good times...
To stop the gators this year, watch what Auburn did last year as the template for how to play defense. You've got to be fast, nasty, and physical. Your defense has to create chaos and disrupt to throw the spread's timing off, not just react. Get in the backfield fast, blow people up on crossing routes, and hit HARD early and often.
Basically, our defense has to play with some serious attitude and impose its will on the offense. Setting the tone early with some big hits will get us off on the right foot.

Its time to see the Mustang Package, I would send either Mckenzie or the "Freak Martin" every play from either side or both at the same time and get a good push in the middle and have Rico spying waiting for tebow to tuck it and run, then its sorry about your luck Tebow.... Then have Eric Berry shadow Percy Harvin, then you got Willingham who will lock down one wideout and Vinson who will lock down the other. No where for Tebow to go but to sit his ass down and take his sac. Then he can go sit on the sideline and lick tongues with Joyner or whoever it is he wants to lick on....

Im hopin after what I saw in the Wisconsin game last year the our D developed a swag and wanted to be mean and nasty and put someone on there ass...cause thats what I saw in the bowl game and if that is a sign of things to come we have a good as a chance as anyone at stoppin Florida as well as anyone else in the.....Nation
If I were head coach.......2 minutes b4 gametime me and my starting 4 dlinemen would have a 30 second facetime meeting. I'd tell them just about verbatim your post, adding we'll blitz to help you but it's primarily you 4 men.How to adjust to florida? Get pressure with your front four. Otherwise they're dictating to you. Tebow is a pretty smart cat so if you blitz you'll have to mix it up. Blitz from the same area and make it repetitive and he'll kill you. It all starts and ends up front guys.
Johnny's run to the ball and create chaos style fits right in with that. I've never seen a team overreact to ball fakes and playaction more than our defenses under chavis. His scheme is a bad matchup against them. Thats why its so important for our front to get some pressure on him. If you overpursue like we normally do and give tebag time, then it'll look just like last years game.I'm not sure if auburn created "chaos" last year when they played florida--but the tigers played very strong fundamentally against the gators: they did not blow assignments (meaning leaving people uncovered), they tackled extremely well--and their dbs did not get suckered in by play action. The gators always sucker the Vols for at least one td, if not more. You've got to put some pressure on tebow, cover all the guys they throw out into the pass lanes--and tackle hard and tackle well. The fundamental problem for the Vols is the same as its been for years against florida: they use ball fakes, counter plays, deception and the spread itself to keep our defense off balance and on its heels, whereas UT, with a more predictable offense, does not do the same against their defense. In terms of basic talent, athleticism and experience, the Vols match up very well--but their schemes are always a problem for us, starting with spurrier and now with urbie cryer.

LOL, yeah so they can complete 3rd and 25 with ease and we can watch the linebackers and at least 1 dlineman backpedal past the first down marker at the snap. You ever wonder why opposing coaches LOVE 3rd and long against us? It's becasue we run the mustang.
Thats what the mustang is good for, letting opponents pick up first downs with ease and letting GA score in hobnailed boot fashion in less than 40 seconds.
