How this football season plays out for UT

Dick being injured and Monk not at 100% improves UT's chances. Not sure about the Kentucky game.

UT has the SEC east locked up. UF's out of it, UT holds the tiebreaker over UGA, plus they will probably lose to Auburn. UT will play LSU for the SEC title, where anything can happen, like 2001! Looking ahead, who might UT play in the Sugar Bowl? I would prefer someone like Oregon or Arizona State.

Georgia is 4-2 in the SEC, with Auburn and Kentucky left to play. UT is 3-2 in the SEC, with Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vandy left.

Like you said, anything can happen.

If UT plays LSU for the SEC Title, your reference to the 2001 SECCG is probably a decent prediction of how it will end.

This team is just too "fundamentally challenged" to be considered a real threat to make it past Atlanta, if even to Atlanta.

You opinion, however, is no less valid than any other, mine included.

go vols.

My Arkansas friends tell me that Dick's backups are better than he is.

We'll see
Dick has hurt ribs and a concussion against Florida International, McFadden's still not a 100%, and Monk's only played a few series, coming off knee surgery.

So Arky's going to depend on Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis.

You think we can move back in the top ten ranking with a resounding win over Oregon or Arizona State? Also, does anybody know of any good hotels for Vol fans in New Orleans?:)

UT will beat Ark, UK and Vandy easy---I'm not worried about those games. I'm worried about LSU and then the Sugar Bowl game.

Hillis is dangerous. Nobody gives him the credit he deserves.

Everybody knows how dangerous McFadden and Felix are but they forget about the FB that returns punts.

Is Arky really as bad as folks seem to think? Their passing game is obviously weak, but they are averaging 450ypg, scoring about 40ppg and giving up about 19ppg. They have the same 5-3 record as the Vols. Their 3 losses include a 2-point squeaker to Aubie, a blowout by Bama (same as the Vols), and a second half meltdown against Kentucky. I guess we will have a better idea after they play SC. Just seems a little premature to write them off.

Dick, Monk, and McFadden are hurt or not at a 100%. I think that is the difference this time.

Anything better than a 7-5 record and a second-tier bowl win would have to be considered a plus for this year's team. As much as it hurts to say it, I worry that UT will find a way to give away the SEC East.

That's how I see it.

Wow, you think UT will lose 2 more SEC games!

I agree with not taking Arky lightly. For the record, I believe Bama beat them on a late TD pass.

for some reason I thought Bama put the beatdown on them and then eased up and Arky scored most of its points in the 4th quarter. I'll double check the box score.

edit: I guess we were both right, maybe you more than me Vader. Bama led them 31-17 at the start of the 4th then the Tide had to come back late for the win after giving up 21 points in in the 4th.

1) With essentially an off-week playing ULL, we slow down McFadden and Jones enough to beat Arkansas confortably.
2) Vandy will be a struggle but we win as they have already won their once in 25 years over UT in 1985.
3) We beat Kentucky in an offensive shootout, reminescense of Manning vs Couch. This secures us a place on Dec 1 in Atlanta. Thus saving Coach Fulmer his job. (And rightly so IMO).
4) We lose to LSU in the SEC championship.
5) We win a second tier Bowl game (Capital One, Outback, Chick-fil-a etc.)
6) Hamilton puts pressure on Fulmer to fire Chavis, which he refuses to do and Fulmer gracefully retires. This likely happens before the bowl game.

we are very inconsistant it depends on which ut team shows up.

Well, the big difference is that Arkansas fought the whole game against Bama, while we just laid down and got it handed to us.

I will reiterate the earlier point though. I don't think there is any reason to take the Pigs lightly. They may have 500 yds rushing against us.

November 24, 2007.... Woodson, Burton, Little and Woodyard's last home game at KY. The Cats haven't beaten the Vols in 23 years. The Vols steal one from SC at home. The streak over KY ends in a big way at 23........ KY-56 TN-21

I can see why the MSU game would make you more confident but...

They are already laying for UT in Lexington..... I've heard some things that will push the limit.... After watching Tennessee's defense against SC, I think Woodson puts 650 yards on the Vols....

i'm not going to defend our defense....but i don't even think there's enough time in a regulation game for that to happen......:eek:lol:

Why the switcheroo? Didn't you make a thread asking people to guess how many combined yards rushing McFadden and Jones would have on UT?
