I like the matchup, but how it came about is BS. Auburn stole our bowl slot, no if and or butts about it. Screw Cheezit, i hope they get embarrassed by a big 10 school.

On a side note. Don't worry about a playoff taking away from the regular season. These douches just proved it's meaningless anyway.

Congratulations to the Vols for being selected to go to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl to face Virginia Tech.

NOW

Based on the quote from Cartervol, I was listening to 104.5 The Zone's ClayNation show and a conspiracy theory came out that the Vols got screwed out of the Outback Bowl was there are Gator officials on the bowl selection committee and they wanted to make sure that Tennessee or even Georgia do not get as much national exposure if possible on New Year's Day and to make sure either or go to a lower tier bowl game. So they picked Auburn and so we got picked to go to the bowl on New Year's Eve while Georgia got banished to the Independence Bowl. I mean this sounds crazy but I did not imagine that reps from the University of Florida would play a role in who plays in the Outback Bowl.

If this is true (which I highly doubt) there needs to be an investigation.

I, too don't understand how a team second to last in their own division got the Outback Bowl bid.

No Sale..... If that's true heads will roll if it could be proven. My thought is that nobody would tune in to see a game that was played two years ago.... No more, no less. Tennessee actually can come out of this situation better off if they can lay a good ole Southern smackdown on VT. Wisconsin isn't even in sniffing distance of the top 25 while VT is potentially a top 10 opponent if things shake out just right....

Here we go again with the whiners claiming UT got screwed. Auburn dominated us even though we ended up scoring a TD late to make it look respectable. Get over it dude and while you're at it get a life for God's sake.

Not sure how we got screwed by getting a primetime game (and the best bowl of the day) in a talent rich state/area against a pretty decent VT team.

That is certainly not the reason why Auburn got chosen - and UT was more deserving of the bowl bid to the Outback.

I did not come up with this theory, I'm just sharing to what I heard. You need to take it up with Clay Travis and his co-host who came up with this. I'm just glad that we have one more game left.

Have to agree 100% with that whole post. There is no downside for us.

Can you tell us how that has any relevance? Does that mean every team that "dominated" Auburn should be in the Outback bowl? They finished with a worse SEC record, and the bowl committee as well as Auburn broke every principle in place.

Just because they beat us head to head does not mean that they should go ahead of us in the bowl pecking order when we finished a full game ahead of them in the SEC standings. It would make sense if we had ended up tied with them, but we didn't. Whatever the reasons, this just blows. It's a shame to see the hard work of our players go unrewarded because of TV ratings, ticket sales, politicts or whatever it was. They played hard all year, and deserved to have their season end on New Year's Day.

I do not care. We get a better time slot for our game (7:30 pm on New Years eve) I mean I don't think the entire nation is going to wake up early to watch UT play Wisconsin on New Years day. I think this may actually help us instead of hurt.

If I recall Kiffin said that Georgia is paramount in his rebuilding program, and especially the Atlanta area..... If that is the case how much better could it be, than for this rebuilding team to play in the Atlanta Chic-Fli-A game ? Just asking ?

Auburn guaranteed more hotel rooms and tickets. They out bid us from what I read.

I think it's just the principle of the matter that I have a problem with - I love the chance to beat a highly touted VT team over boring Wisconsin - and Atlanta is fine considering we didn't go to a bowl last year and didn't think we would after UCLA this year. But it still rubs everyone the wrong way that we got screwed out of a bowl that is considered better and a team less deserving takes our spot.

I am about sick of this Clay Travis guy. It seems like all he does is write bad books and give terrible info

I don't like the idea of the way Slive and the rest of the SEC seem to rain on us, but I am trying to see the Big picture and how a BIG win over a high ranked VT team in a hot recruiting area could pay long term dividends to our rebuilding process

We are better off going to the Chik Fil A bowl and playing a night game on New Year's Eve than playing at 10 AM CST. We will also play a better team than playing boring Wisconsin again. We've already beat them once, so lets play VA TECH which everyone has wanted us to play for years anyway.

Keep telling yourself that. Try telling it to the recruits in FL that won't be coming to the game.

It's better than the Music City bowl....that's not saying much.
