How the heck is Norvell not one of the front runners?

nobody really knows what he is could be butch 2.0 could be a damn good coach that will have a great offense where ever he ends up

He’s certainly done well this year

People are understandly paranoid on hiring a coach that’s not a proven winner on a big stage.

Florida is shooting for Frost. I think Norvell is a steal. Dude can flat out coach and he knows how to develop QBs Butch couldn’t.

Why not? We have been settling for mediocrity since 2009. Might as well keep the mediocre hires going. Mike mediocre Norvell is the next coach at mediocre U.

He's a football coach and not a Football CEO like the last two have been. Dooley nor Jones ever coordinated a birthday party much less an offense.

Hire someone who is damn good on one side of the ball or another. Then give him money to hire the other side and make sure he has enough confidence and common sense to let his coaches do their job

But Butch thought he was good on offense, and he convinced Hart he was. Why do you think he quit? POed LV fans? No disrespect to them, but football has a good 70 to 80 years on them.

If we cant get Mullen or Peterson then I say take Norvell. I know we dont want to admit it, but after this year not sure if a top tier coach would want to put his reputation on the line to come here, may be a tough sell.

Butch had a better resume. plus the same ones mad at the short passes will still be mad when you realize all he does is dink and dunk. They just have some great wrs. A national radio guy talking about Memphis called it a, "generic high school offense."They just have a first round wr and other playmaker to turn 2 yard passes into big gains.

He very well may be if Arkansas doesn't get him. Like it or not, we may get that far down the list if all we are going to look at are head coaches.

Just read the thread on Leach. Can someone give me any hope....any at all....that we might get Norvell or Frost instead? Humor an old man and tell me we aren't trotting Leach out there as our next coach.

He's not because of the works of the previous two head coaches at Tennessee. Those individuals have a similar head coaching resume to Norvell and turned the Tennessee program into the Kansas of the SEC.

That isn't on Norvell. But this job needs to be given to someone with experience, preferably at the professional or P5 level, building and sustaining a program. Failing that, you need someone like a Taggart or a Brohm with experience with a full-on mid-major rebuild.

You don't hire a boy to do a man's job. This is what has hurt us in the last decade.
