Like many others have expressed on volnation, I don't love the added injury risks associated with playing a wing based offense. As I thought about it I began to compare our opener to other SEC teams' openers. It could be advantageous for GT to be our most competitive film for UF to break down. Due to the unique nature of the GT scheme (at least on offense) our film won't reveal as much about our scheme. Florida, for example, opening against Michigan will give us great film to study to break down their scheme. After week one, everyone will know who UF is schematically speaking. Tennessee however may have revealed far less about ourselves to that point in the season. Thus giving UF less meaningful film to ascertain our new offensive scheme and situational tendencies or how we will blitz a more pass happy offense.

Just a thought. Take it or leave it. Go Vols!

You are right, but in a choice between the two, I'd rather give Florida primo game footage than play the team that tends to injure a lot of defensive players, one year after we got destroyed by defensive injuries.

I think our defense will be top 5 in the SEC if we can stay healthy, but it only takes a few injuries at D-line or LB before we start seeing a big drop-off.

I like that we open with GT actually. I think Johnson's team will be expecting a soft team ala 120 carrying over into this season. I suspe3ct they'll try to take us on physically right at the outset. If we show up more like 119 than 120, GT and others in the SEC East could have a long season when the men in orange show up.

We already know Florida's scheme. It's to say your credit card was stolen and make money of it!

The upside of this game is the prime time Monday night exposure we'll receive. I'm not a fan of playing GTs type of offense but the national exposure is worth the risk imo. The North Georgia recruiting bed is the lifeblood of our program. This game will have recruits attention.

The rules say there is an opening game. OK. Bring it on!!

Go Big Orange!

I'm tired of waiting. I'm tired of excuses. And ... I'm tired of losing.

Florida knows exactly what we are going to do and they can't do a damn thing to stop it. And Bama we're comin.

Starting with Georgia Tech is a good thing because it's not a cup cake game so our urgency should be pretty high out of the gate. Not only that but it should somewhat be a quality win for us. Preparing for techs offense will get us out of our comfort zone and should help our defense grow.

If you go......drop by the legendary Varsity for the dogs, fries, and onion rings ![/QUOTE

Then drop by the legendary Walgreens for Tums, Maalox, Immodium, and Adult Diapers. After hot dogs, fries, and rings from the Varsity you will be needing those items. :eek:lol:

The Varsity is an institution and if anyone gets a chance get a dog there at least once. That said, Sonic's chilicheese dogs are better, Five Guys have better fries, and you can find better rings.

Yep.

We (GT) have problems on our end of this equation. We never really know how a team is going to line up against us if we haven't played them before. Lots of DCs cook up something special or different against us, so sometimes we have to spend the first quarter of a game monkeying with our game plan to get it to work.
