How old is too old to wear a jersey on gameday

jk. I wear mine on gameday sometimes and could care less what anyone thinks including my gf but she knows not to cross that line

Ok, I'm not saying my age-I go back to Johnny Majors coaching-, but I have a jersey and I wear it every game day that I watch on TV. I would probably not wear it to the game only because it is huge. For gosh sakes, it's a game, people-you're not applying for a job.

My formula is simple -

I can always wear a jersey, but I will not wear one if the person I am wearing is my age, younger than me, or I drank beer with them or their roommates in college.

*edit* - Unless for some reason my son ends up playing for the Big Orange, at which all bets are off.

If 'too old' even enters your mind, then you are 'too old'. Be who you want to be. It's just a number.

I think the ONLY think you'd be too old to wear are those STUPID SMACK talk shirts. leave those for the punks.

I'm 40 and I wear my orange home jersey every game day, and of course I wear it to the game when I go (we go to one a year). I wish I had a #14 but all I have is my #10 now. Oh well, it's still a jersey.

I think the only times the jerseys look rediculous is when there's a big fatty wearing one, but that's just me

I am surprised at the numbers in support of wearing a jersey after the age of 14 - and yes - even on gameday (unless you don't leave your house). I figured it was about 90% to not wear a jersey on gameday after a certain age.

Off-topic - but - it seemed like a ton of UCLA fans were rocking a jersey when they visited.. way higher ratio than UT fans.

It's fairly common everywhere else to wear a jersey on gameday. I'm surprised that so many people are prudes about this.

I don't see any problem with wearing a jersey during the game. I throw on a Titans or Vols jersey on gameday fairly often, even down here in Florida - I imagine I get more dirty looks from the Florida and FSU fans than those back home in TN get from the polo-and-khakis clad gentlemen. I personally wouldn't wear one on a non-game day, but who gives a damn. Wear what you like. As long as you're in white and orange for the game, it doesn't matter.

Maybe you gents need to stop watching What Not to Wear and worry about something more important than what another man is wearing to the game. ;)

And to the OP: respect your wife's opinion, but offer a compromise, like you'll only wear it on gameday, or only for home games, etc.

That's perfectly fine. But I'll continue to chuckle to myself at 30 and 40 year-olds walking around Neyland wearing a jersey (I just think it looks hilarious - that's jmo) - and if they wear on during the week outside of sporting stuff - then I'll be extremely tempted to point and then laugh.

Well you'll have to point and laugh at me all you want, I plan on being buried in my #16 Jersey, how old I'll be by then I guess will depend on how good my cholesterol medicine works.

The person to point and laugh at is anyone wearing a #8 jersey. Has anyone seen anybody wearing one in Neyland?

Don't wear it all the time but I do enjoy wearing my worn #20 jersey. So, we can hang out kidde table before the game. Beer is on me.

I think the age should be 16.....JMO.
I don't and won't look down on anybody that does it...........unless it's YOUR name on the back of the jersey!!!!! Then, you should be removed from the stadium, taken down to the river, and shot!

If i ever see one....I will say," Hey...nice David Rudder jersey. He was a good back-up in the late 70's."

wasn't Andy Kelly #8..??

I'm 32 years old and my wife says I'm too old to rock my jersey.......................opinions please?

I think that you should be able to wear your jersey everyday if you want, no matter the age. And also a word of advise, if she doesnt want you to wear your Vols jersey on gameday, I think that you need to kick her to the curb, yesterday is not fast enough.

I haven't seen one in Neyland. I have seen one lady wearing one somewhere. I assumed she was somehow related to Crompton as that was the only way I could conceive anyone would wear one.

I dont see anything wrong with wearing a jersey regardless of your age, dont wear loafers, def tennis shoes!
