How NOT to run a coaching search

Shaka time baby. I see him as having the best chance of winning over some of the returning players/recruits and having a semi-decent season next year.

the meeting is ony in june. i heard yesterday , it could take until late fall or early winter for the AA to get back with ut. be prepared for a LONG wait !!!

I thought that we could avoid the meeting if we didn't dispute any allegations. I haven't looked into it at all, but I thought that was part if the reason we paid Pearl - for himto walk away without disputing the allegations.

Maybe we don't have that choice.

Shaka will have his choice of G. Tech, U.T., NC State, or A & M. U.T. has question marks; whereas, the other schools don't have question marks and G.Tech is in fertile recruiting ground. Shaka Khan will not come to U.T.

With the other shoe still ready to drop, I don't see how any big name coach will be willing to come to UT. Just like in football, I hope we can pick out a winner in the also runs.

The administration has promised to give their full support to the new coach, oh, wait, they spoke too soon, again. LOL. The new coach has to promise not to ask the administration for support because they can't stand the public scrutiny of the (non) decisions they make. You're on your own pops; good luck.

Is Shaka the guy who uses the "run & gun" gameplan mostly? If so, he should have an edge, maybe the administrators can't catch up to him. More lol.:eek:lol:

See "five candidates" report from GVXTRA reportedly based on AD source. Already promting denails from coaches. If hamilton floated this list, he is THE WORST!

I'm not sure a "big name" like Frank is what we need. He is a pro coach whose resume is not building a college program, recruiting HS kids and promoting the team. The skill set is different for the 2 positions.

It's a concern, but I don't think it would be much of one for Frank. He has coached and recruited in college before, albeit not as a head coach, and did so at UT.

He's only 40 years old, so we wouldn't be hiring some old guy who had been away from the college game forever and who would have to relearn everything while trying to relate to kids.

In a way, this is like what NC State did with Sidney Lowe, and that didn't work out, but Frank showed some ability as a coach with the Nets before they gutted his roster. Lowe has never won anywhere as a coach.
