How much would (will) Tennessee pay to keep Coach Pearl?

i've seen some opinions that at UT,it may be a political problem to pay Pearl considerably more than Summit due to her unparalleled success.
that's a little like saying the guy operating the very best service station should make the same as the guy operating the best company providing fuel to the service station.

As a purely business decision, Fulmer should earn more than both Summit and Pearl, and Pearl should earn more than Summit.

I'm sure CPS understands that the market will eventually dictate a much higher salary for CBP than for her, at least I think so.

only assuming that they're operating at a near equal level.

Summit should never make big cash because she's in a business that doesn't earn enough cash to pay her in a big way. CPF, if doing his thing, should earn one helluva pile of money. CBP, doing his thing today, should earn great money, but basketball programs just don't generate anywhere close to the TV and concessions revenues.

Pearl will be looking for Donovan type money soon---$4 mil plus. UT better come up with the cash.

Does anybody on here know the answer to the question regarding UT's debt to Buzz?

I would think that once that money is freed up, it could easily be added to Pearl's compensation...?

simple economics folks.....look at the revenue bb(before Bruce) and ab (after Bruce).......

CBP is to UT as mike vick was to ATL falcons (initially)...

Also, its not fair to compare with cpf...... UT will sell out football regardless of who's coaching.... However, lose cbp and revenue could dramatically drop...

The "Donovan type money" comes with back to back NCG titles....Pearl needs to focus on not getting outcoached by Billy Clyde and not blowing 17 pt leads in the tourny before he worries about "Donovan type money"

I'd be willing to guess that UT would pay the man anything he wants. This is Pearle's empire and I don't see the man ever going anywhere else.In other words the UT basketball program is his baby.

I like Pearl, but he's a $2 million coach at best. That would be a fair compensation. If we make Final Four, maybe a little more.

:):) TN. mens basketball is on the map now and all the credit goes to pearl , imo , but dont think for a minute that some of the major programs that are in down years wont try to pull him away ( LOTS OF DOLLARS ) but the vols ad would be stupid not to keep cbp at whatever price
NC state tried their best to get cal so rc just had to shell out the money

I would imagine that Tiger High and Cal will part ways prior to 2010...

Bruce is a dynasty builder. He saw what was possible with UT men's basketball and brought it to new highs. He always says the right thing. I see him staying a while.

I don't think CBP should get the same money as CPS. Pearl hasn't done anything close to what Summit has. If Bruce puts y'all into the deep rounds of the tourney and wins at least one NC then maybe start talking about big time money, but why should he make more than the Legend Summit?? That to me seems idiotic. I heard someplace that Summit has something in her contract that she makes the same as Fulmer and if he gets a raise then she does. A guy I know here that is from Knoxville and is 60 yrs old told me that.
