Discredit a decisive UT win and a very impressive performance by our offense(if that's what happens) with uf missing two starters on D(as well as possibly the rb on offense)??

Seems like every time I see or hear someone talk about the game this Saturday they have to mention the two injured players on uf's D. I just have a feeling that'll be what everybody(mostly espn) points to after the game if we come out and whip that azz instead of actually giving us the respect we should deserve.

That shouldn't be an excuse, imo. Uf has known all week they'd be out and should have the new starters prepared. Unlike last year when we lose JH11 early in the game and our game plan was turned upside down. Plus our guys seemed demoralized after losing such a key player that early in the game.

On one hand, I would love for the media to be wowed by our performance and put us that much more back in the national conversation. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if they kept doubting us so this team would keep a chip on their shoulder and keep playing like they've still got something to prove going into Athens.

What do you guys think?

They may mention it (Mark May comes to mind) but I think in general the media will be all up on our proverbial shizz up through the UGA game.

Some may bring it up, but it is an expected win. We will be the new media darlings of the SEC. THat should bring alot of hype going into Athens. Possibly another Gameday...

This.

Look anywhere on the sports-related internet. It's all Vol.

It's a great story and the media will ride it as long as they can.

It doesn't matter if they have a few people hurt, this is a big rivalry and the winner of this game is in the running to win the East.

The loser will put their fans into meltdown mode.

I mentioned it in another thread but here it is again. Despite the dismissal of our Vols due to our not winning anything of note, the media doesn't hate us. In their heart of hearts, they really want a competitive Tennessee team. They'd rather talk about the most hated football song in America (Rockytop) and how the Vols keep making you hear it. The Vols are very distinctive in several ways. The orange and white uniform is particular to the UT. Running through the "T" is unique to the UT. There simply is no school song like Rockytop, not one a one. We give the media something to to talk about when we're good. Finally, historically, Tennessee is unpredictable. We win games we shouldn't and from time to time lose games we shouldn't. The Vols drive you crazy and we create being talked about when we're competitive. It's almost like the media hates us so much that they love us. Trust me, they're hoping we're back.

It would be a nice win but beating Muschamp is not the headliner that beating Meyer would have been.

good grief...get over the "they hate us" mentality...it is silly and makes anyone who gives it credence look like a real simpleton.

I haven't been around on here for very long, but I think a little bit of it is kind of a joke here.

So if we win this Saturday do we get some respect or will media people question whether or not we would've won if uf was 100% healthy?
