How Much More Money Danny?

Whether you agree with it or not, there’s a huge divide between this administration and the fans. It all started with Tony V. And we all know the truth. If things keep going this way people will stop paying for those over priced tickets. DW only had a hand in 1/3 of those accomplishments you mentioned. But just as he really didn’t have that much to do with the success, he doesn’t have that much to do with our current state. People are just pissed paying for a talent fee when you're little brother down the road is better than you at everything, and they didn’t need a talent fee (and still don’t have one btw) to do it
Vandy has talent fees. Everyone has talent fees. We’re just the only ones transparent enough to admit it.

I know I'm an outsider, but.......

1. Call me crazy, but does anyone remember the Tennessee athletic program before White and after White? Which program is worse off?

2. Get used to this but in the world of NIL, consistent performance year after year is going to become more and more difficult.

Tennessee's reached the point as a program where making the tournament is a disappointing season. That means whoever is running things must be pretty damn good. I'm guessing no one has more wins in the NCAA tournament as a head coach at Tennessee than Rick Barnes

Why? His resume is slightly better than Rick's. 100% more scum. Maybe we can hire Pearl and the night before the season starts he can retire and his son can take over
Its not so much Pearl. Its the style he brought here that was so much more exciting to watch.

I'm just asking the question - how did the AD allow this to happen? Exactly what is White supposed to do but put people in charge and trust them to do their jobs? Should he have fired Heupel? Is he picking the players and designing the schemes? Serious questions.

Listen, I share the disgust with the direction that big time college sports is going, but the AD's job besides picking competent people to coach the teams is to raise revenue wherever he sees a chance to do it, and by that measure White has been a slam dunk success. Your issue isn't with White, but the entire system.
Oh I don’t know maybe give TV the players he wanted. Maybe put some pressure on CJH. Oh and yeah, use money to bolster your NIL. He’s playing a long game where he wants to look clean for a bigger role. That interview whining about cheating blah blah blah makes him look soft. Under his watch we have got worse. He’s the top dog. All falls on him.

But he did out pressure on Heupel. Did we not fire the DC and bring in an upgrade?

Also, another major underlying factor is that Danny White was at UCF and brought CJH here with him after getting turned down by at least 5 other coaches! So their preexisting relationship carries more weight with them than anything related to the University of Tennessee. They will cash their millions out and move somewhere else, but we will still all be here!

That's some left hip speculation there

What could he give Vitello to keep him from getting every college coach's dream, to manage in the big leagues? Can you even fathom how incredible it is for a coach to make that leap? No offense, but it is off the charts dumb to even suggest that there might have been something - anything -that White could do to prevent TV from fulfilling every baseball coach's dream. C'mon now.

We had the #1 recruiting class in the country when TV left.

Rick Pitino left Kentucky for the NBA. Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban each left schools where they won a natty for the NFL.

It’s very rare for a college coach in any sport to say no to a pro offer. Only recent one I can think of is Dan Hurley turning down the Lakers.

Ok. Just like every other university. You do know we won the All Sports Trophy last year, right?

The idiocy of this fan base will never cease to amaze me
The person referenced the pressure to change the defensive staff! Nowhere in this thread has anybody mentioned the irrelevant all sports trophy, except you! Your blind deflection make you the idiot!

And it's never happened in baseball - ever - for a coach with no MLB experience to make that leap. But Danny giving him a bit more money for players would have prevented him from taking that job. Right.

Since this topic has several references to TV leaving and White‘s control / no control over Tony’s decision, I don’t think Danny could have altered that at all.
My problem with Danny was his decision not to do an actual coaching search. I personally hope Elander wins multiple CWS titles. However, Tenn being 1 of the top baseball jobs in the country, with the biggest budget, paying the highest salary, a new stadium, and national recognition, he should have sought out the best HC the sport has. Yes the current players wanted Elander, but if you bring in a great HC he will satisfy most of the roster and the recruiting class. He would obviously have the ability to continuing bringing in top talent and continue the winning Tony started. Gambling with hiring Elander for easily a top 3-5 program, was not a smart move. Ask LSU fans how they feel about an outside hire, and ask aTm fans how they feel about an inside hire.

I don’t think I ever paid to go see a Tennessee basketball or baseball game in the ‘70s. What’s does a ticket for a BB game run now? My guess is about $30 a game.

Ok, fair point. But you’re a fan of a university that has multiple basketball & football titles since the turn of the century. And your AD shuffles coaches out the door at a high rate trying to get the next title asap. So preaching contentment to Vol fans seems a little strange.

How many more of my dollars will you take for another subpar, underperforming product? ROI is nonexistent here. Please take more of my money though, please.

-Still stuck in a parking garage I was never stuck in this long before DW got here.
You know he can’t take it, right? You choose to give it or not.
