paying John Chavis? If Wilcox goes, we need to make that move.....Chavis has turned down many HC offers along the way. He's content being an assistant an DC. His heart has to still be at UT. I know 3rd and Chavis kills everyone but with the talent he has who cares? I really think it's a possibility at some point.

Who are we going to have recruit for him?

This always cracks me up. Obviously whatever the defensive recruiting situation is at LSU, its working. UT got a ton of defensive talent when he was here as well. I'm not buying this argument.

we'll have Chief return as soon as Cut returns....Only in a 'way back' machine to the 90's..

Yeah, Chavis is such a blast from the past. He just won defensive coach of the year. This year, 2011. Also, he was at UT much past the 1990s. What the hell does Chavis have to do with Cut?

Chavis is a good coordinator but I believe we are over-hyping this guy. LSU has some serious talent. I believe the athletes are more responsible for the success of the LSU defense than the coaches.

We have just as much of a chance of getting Chavis back as we do at getting Cut back, which is never. Reread the post.

Bridges aren't too burned. He is CURRENTLY in a better spot. He played at UT and coached at UT for YEARS. I used to be close to his sons Jason and John, JR. Haven't seen them in forever, but I know how much Chavis loved UT. The flame can't be completely out, don't buy it.

How many went to the NFL from UT that he coached? Dozens and dozens.

You can get elite talent to Knoxville. However, you can't do it without putting some effort in. Seems Chavis didn't really enjoy having to go out and recruit.

No way Chavis would come here and be a part of what may well be a sinking ship while he's been so successful at LSU, anyways.
