this year we pulled a Vandy... we took a piece of the bowl payout pie w/o contributing...welfare for sub 500 teams.....still, a buck is a buck

But UT stadium renovations are scheduled to exceed $200 million! Alabama's recent stadium renovations only cost $65 million.

Lastly, what caused UT to be in that situation? Was it all of the renovations that Hammy put us up to, or is it all of the coaches' buyouts that we are involved with?

they are talking about what they have in reserve and those are fairly accurate numbers. its the buyouts that empty the reserves

Between Jim Haslam, James "Thunder" Thorton and Peyton Manning, I'm sure that's a few tens of millions at hand.

After a complete audit of the AD. They are in decent shape. After paying Fulmers buyout in full, wasting a few million on the Kiffin clan, hiring Dooley and staff, firing MH , hiring Hart, then hiring Dooley a new staff there will be a balance of $24.32 available in the AD.
Now there are several people wanting to fire Dooley and pay him 5 million to leave town, then hire a big name coach at 6 million a year.
Donations to AD would be appreciated .

UT Athletic Department: $14,000 budget "surplus" per Dave Hart. He also stated that the reserves were "very modest".

That's just football ticket sales. That's not counting other athletic revenue. Theoretically they could pay for the renovations in 3 years (less if UT has a top team) with just the football tickets. I'd say the renovations will take far longer than it would to generate the money. IIRC UT football has been in the top 10 generated revenue for quite some time. In their worst seasons they were raking in 80 mil a year.

The posters on here who think we have plenty of money to go out and do whatever we want are foolish. The big donors to UT donate towards academics not athletics.

Clemson has the highest paid pair of assistants now at 2.1 million in 2012. In 2009 the entire staff salary was 2.7......

Nor can I stop you from wishful thinking. My main line of thinking is why would be that low as compared to Bama? I mean just as everyone keeps saying we can donate more money and what not, Bama can say the same.

Thats what I was thinking. But what about season ticket holders? Isnt there more than enough from that?

Because some view this as a product. Why donate when the "product" isnt worth getting? Not saying its right but its economics. Im thinking in terms of season tickets anyways. And you shouldnt lead me on like that. I was getting excited.

^^^^This.I was thinking the same thing. Thats also why we should have a better product on the field and coaching staff! Just my thoughts
