having chance hall in the game will make?

i know it can't hurt. and i've said getting him back is a difference maker. i still believe that.

but it's his first game back, he's bound to be a little ginger this soon after the injury.

does one guy tip the scales?

Hopefully sjt sees this question. He's got some good analysis of our Oline from last year when J JONES and Hall are in together.

Doug Mathews said he thinks Coleman Thomas starts at right tackle and Hall may get some limited snaps there.

I have to believe it will be better, just not sure it will be enough. We can't let pressure come from the middle like we have. No team can function when the center can't slow down their man.

After watching Coleman Thomas imitate a tackle last week it'll be nice to see a real one play even he's a bit rusty. Hall won't be a game changer, but he gives us a better chance to win and keep Dobbs healthy.

The combination of Hall and Jones is greater than the sum of their parts! :rock:

They work great together as they have already proven!

I can tell you this. I've thought about this myself because Hall hasn't been on the field in a while and the line we had was just starting to come together. Gators are gonna go strait at him. But then I thought, if the line isn't better with him in it he wouldn't be there.

Adding another person to the rotation cant hurt the current situation. Even if Hall is not 100%, he can provide Thomas some rest time, so he is fresher on more plays.

He'll help. He and Jack Jones seem like they have a big brawler attitude which I think the others lack. That kind of play and attitude can be contagious.

I do think Chance Hall is our best right tackle. Just not sure how close he is to being 100% ready for action?

He'll be better out there on an island than Thomas will, I know that much. But how much he is ready I don't know.

Well. I think we saw a difference when Tuttle came back. I think Hall and Jones together can close up at least one hole in the line.

I hope that having him back is the key to the OL playing like a single unit instead of 5 guys standing next to each other.

Potentially a lot. You have to account for competition as well but Hall and Jones have something that is too often missing from any of the others we've seen.... They have a nasty streak.

My read on how much it might tip the scales is actually who starts with them. I have nothing against Thomas or Richmond. Thomas played well against the back half of the schedule last year. Richmond has the talent to be very good. BUT.... neither should start in front of Kendrick IMO. Kendrick is far from perfect and has his own set of issues.... but nothing like the other two.

I think Richmond needs development. CT played well against lesser competition but his lack of strength and bulk show up against better teams.

Can't remember the name but UT had another center a few years back who just couldn't keep the weight on. Thomas isn't quite that bad but he seems to struggle when he has to take on powerful DT's.

IMHO, UT can run behind Kendrick, Robertson, Wiesman, Jones, and Hall. In fact, that's a pretty solid OL. I have always liked Kendrick but he's a concern in pass protection vs UF. I think they'll have to at least show some inside RB help on his side and have him work hard against the outside rush. Everyone else.... has to man up AND big time.

The comforting thing about Hall and Jones is that they played extremely well together against Bama last year. As good as UF's front is.... Bama is no worse than comparable. Saban is a better defensive mind than UF's DC.... or most anyone else.

Yes, the guards won't worry about the tackles players and the center won't worry about the guards players. It's a chain reaction on the line. When one player is messing up then the whole line will mess up.

I think this explains Robertson's play when Richmond was still in. I wonder if it wasn't as much that DR didn't know what to do as Robertson not trusting him to do it well?

If Hall plays even as well as he played last fall.... he's a gamechanger in run blocking.

Maybe if they were coming back to replace someone who was playing well. There is no comparison between the player Hall was when we saw him last fall and what Thomas was the last 2 weeks.

This may sound cliche but it's 100% accurate that the OL has to be 5 men functioning as one.

agree about Jashon, agree about Jones and Hall haveing the nasty streak. stj, honestly i have no idea on Kendrick, i'll defer to you, as you seem to have been paying attention.

i know this..i just don't trust Thomas, and it may because he's not healthy or whatever, i just see him as a liability, no matter he lines up.

i'm a little disappointed that Richmond isn't further along after a RS and full off season, with really no injuries. i know OT is a developmental position...but i think the expectation was he could contribute this year.

my gut says getting Hall back, with Jones in the line up is what the dr. ordered. i don't know how much of a difference it makes, at the moment, but they played their butts off against a pretty good GA d line last year, and as some have said, they more than held their own against a very good Bama front last year.

i don't know that it tips the scales for me to say this is the difference we needed to win the game. but it's a good step in the right direction.
