How many years will it take

Good points. It is as you said, all about matching the athletes to his plans/designs and building depth at all positions. And this will take at least a couple recruiting classes and big game experience for those new recruits. But give Pruitt 2-3 years and he will have Tennessee back in the "feared" tier, I have no doubt.

He should get it done by year 2019. Or gruden will be hired again.:yahoo:

No clue other than we're about to find out what a good coach can do and how long it takes to do it. IMO, won't take as long as we think. I believe the talent is there, not the development. It'll all be good!!

And yes at the time of the Schiano deal and Gundy, Doeren, and others telling us no, Kiffin was the best available hire.

Once it was clear that Phil would be AD, that went out the window and he narrowed in on Pruitt and Tucker.

My preference of the two was always Tucker because of long term tenure being a realistic option. If Pruitt wins here, he has no incentive to stay the minute Saban hangs it up. Pruitt will be using UT as a stepping stone to Bama if Dabo ever turns them down. Can't blame Pruitt at all and I wish him success. I just hope we aren't going down this route in 4-6 years looking for a new coach because he went home.

Next year is going to be a fun year. Especially on offense.

Here you go again with more of your Trollish and totally UNrealistic BS just to try to make Pruitt look bad.

1...When nick saTan retires then Pruitt won't have nearly the resume' of success that Dabo has already and Dabo IS as much a Bama boy as Pruitt.

2...It's very doubtful that Dabo wil turn down the HC job at Bama for several reasons...

A...Dabo won't be able to turn down the monster player roster that nick saTan leaves behind.

B...Bama will already have a locked in top 5 or higher recruiting class...again.

C...Bama will do exactly to Dabo what they did to nick saTan, back a huge Brinks truck up to Dabos door that Clemson won't dare to match or beat and we all know that BIG $$$$ talks very loudly.

Now you say our Tennessee O is going to be really fun to watch next season which everyone knows is NOT realistic at all.

We just LOST 8 games for the 1st time in our history and we won ZERO of our SEC games, NONE!

We do NOT have a clue of a starting QB or even if any of them will transfer out.

We have ONLY 1 guy on our O line that would be a starter at any of the other top programs in the country, ONE!

We have some pretty good RB's but how many would be starters next season at top programs.

How many WR's do we have that would be starters at other top programs?

Name me the TE's that we have that would be starters at other top programs.

It's either you that does NOT know anything about college footVol and a solid recruiting rotation or else you're just a hater of Pruitt and doing consistent Trolling to try to make him look bad by the end of year 2 with your UNrealistic total BS.

After my 50+ years of studying college footVol I have to consider this years recruiting class as a solid WIN if we finish close to a top 15 class and that would be a miracle considering that we were ranked 55th in recruiting only 12 days before the 1st signing day.

I'll give Pruitt and his new staff at least 3 to 4 years to recruit his type of players and coach them up and playing on the field before I do a serious analysis to evaluate where I think he's taking us like more intelligent people would do.

We're on the bottom of the SEC right now so it's a huge challenge to climb back up the mountain again but I have a feeling that Pruitt will have us back to competing for the East by year 3 or 4 and that will be pretty good considering how far behind we are right now.

I want miracles but I'm far too intelligent to expect or demand them.

Either your drunk or have a screw or two loose.

Dabo has no incentive to go to Bama. Especially after Saban. His own kid said that. There’s nothing Bama can give him that he doesn’t have at Clemson. He had a God Awful offense this year and still made the playoff for a third straight year. The fact that you think it’s a foregone conclusion Dabo would follow Saban is laughable. In your “50 plus years” of watching football, one would think you would know that coaches that follow alltime program greats fail more times than naught.

Secondly, you are just being ignorant right now and just ignoring everything i said. Did i say Pruitt was a lock to go home? Hell no. I said if Pruitt WINS here and Saban retires, Pruitt would first choice in the event Dabo says no. Dabo saying no is more likely to happen. Especially, if he keeps his playoff run going.

I’m not sure how much booze you kicked back but you are thoroughly incoherent. Especially considering that you think our roster is filled with a bunch of 1-2 Stars just because we lost 8 games.

Fact is we have tons of skill players that are very talented. That talent wasn’t developed under Butch. This staff under Pruitt and Helton has a clear track record of developing talent.

Quit being naive and the personal insults. Of course, I’m not surprised that you get your panties in a wad over a sport that doesn’t impact you in a life/death situation or the fact you calling an opposing coach the devil. It’s anazing how many grown so called “adults” act so childish over a sport.

Bama and LSU weren’t “loaded” when Saban took over. Great coaches make a big jump in year 2. We will see with Pruitt. And this isn’t a rebuild st Tennessee. Plenty of talent on the roster. That needs developing. Something Butch didn’t do. A lot of people are discounting the talent on our roster and that’s sad.

And i like the Pruitt hire. Never said i didn’t. Please tell me where i specifically said i didn’t like the hire. You can’t troll. I preferred Tucker because if Pruitt is great here, he’s likely to be Bama’s first pick after Dabo says no. It’s realistic that Pruitt could be here for only 4-5 years as that’s Saban’s window right now.

Tucker and Pruitt were both great options for us. So get your facts straight before you feel the need to insult people.

Very true! Saban took over a mess in both cases!

Took Kirby Smart 2 to get to the NC.

Yes, but he didn't completely change systems on both sides of ball like UT will. Just got new coaches. In fact, 7-5 in their first season was a disappointment. There was enough talent and depth on the 2016 Georgia team to win 9 or 10 games.

I seriously doubt we will ever have a Bama defense here - at least as long as Lord Satan is still coaching in Tuscatrailorpark.

But Saban still took over a team that went to a bowl. He had way more talent than what Lyle left us.

Our roster is two years removed from an 18-8 run. Our roster is not filled with 1-2 Stars. The reason Butch lost and got fired is lack of development. The talent didn’t leave with Butch. Y’all truly don’t understand football if you think our roster is in horrible shape

Horrible shape? No. Fairly bad shape? Yes.

That’s blatantly false. Regardless of my opinions on JG, he still has 3 seasons left to play. That’s a lifetime for him to develop. Case in point was Crompton. All our QB’s need us development. That’s not hard to do with a competent staff. It also helps that our OC is QB coach as well.

We are stacked with 2 good and solid running backs in CFA and Chandler.

Our receivers are deep. Young but deep and experienced. Callaway showed flashes and so did Johnson. Palmer was a disappointment but like JG, he has a 25 games minimum left to get it going.

TE is a concern just in depth but Pope came on late for us. Can’t remember if Lil Wolf is still on the team but if so, he’s solid too.

O-line has its perceived depth issues but i think it comes down more to the lack of development under Butch and his incompetence. While they didn’t play up to their hype, a solid OC coach would work wonders with the returning lineman and new comers. Once again, we have a stud OC who will play to the unit’s strong points. The one gripe i had with Butch and Scott last year is that they didn’t roll the pocket in the passing game. That’s one way to help out the line and QB to get an extra second or two to make a play. Kiffin did this with the Sullins brothers and Crompton because a drop back passing based offense would murder everyone on our line and backfield.

With Kelly and Kirkland coming back, we will have some defensive quarterbacks on the field. If Byrd moves to corner, that’s bigger than any 5 Star CB we could recruit this offseason.

Line is meh but i trust the Sherrer and Pruitt to go all in to get them formidable.

Once again, a lot of 4/5 stars on our roster that came in the Butch years. They didn’t shine because Butch couldn’t develop them. But that doesn’t mean that the talent went away.

Call me crazy but we have a great foundation for Pruitt. And if he lands these kids that we had no chance at with Butch, we will be okay.

Our roster isn’t in bad shape. It just looks like that because of the lack of development by Butch and Co. The talent is still there.

That’s blatantly false.

I agree with a lot of what your saying, but this bunch is injury prone, you got to take that into account

it would of been great for them to be fairly healthy the last couple of years but they weren't

We finally got a legit SC coach. I’m not worried about the injury culture. It’s not like Butch was promoting a healthy culture either. A lot of injuries came as freak accidents that happen on the football field to key players.

Giddy Up Snow Flakes!

So because he can recruit kids that Butch had no chance at, that’s saying our roster is in horrible shape? Lol okay.

And yes, Great coaches make a big jump from year 1 to 2. It’s not that hard to comprehend. Some of you guys have been befuddled by the Butch years thinking this is a 4-5 year rebuild. Y’all literally don’t understand football

So if Pruitt doesnt win 10 in year 2, he isnt a great coach right?
